Discord is like a crack in the foundation—it may start small, but if left unattended, it can weaken everything around it. Whether it’s in families, friendships, or churches, discord robs us of unity and steals the peace God intended for us. Proverbs 6:19 warns us that one of the things the Lord hates is “he that soweth discord among brethren.”
The truth is, discord often begins with words—sharp words, careless words, or repeated words whispered in the wrong spirit. But just as words can tear down, they can also heal. A kind word, an apology, or even the choice to remain silent can stop discord in its tracks.
When we rise above discord, we choose harmony over hostility. We recognize that our differences don’t have to divide us—they can be opportunities for growth and deeper understanding. Romans 12:18 says, “If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.” That means doing your part to mend, not multiply, division.
So today, resist the urge to feed discord. Instead, be the one who brings calm to conflict, light to darkness, and peace to turmoil. Remember, unity is powerful—when people come together in love and purpose, there is very little that can stop them.
Remember: Discord tears down, but unity builds up. Be a builder today.
