2/7– The way we talk to our children becomes their inner voice
Story:
Paul Harvey tells the story of a young rookie lawyer who was sitting in his new office waiting for his first client. When he heard the outer door open, he quickly tried to sound very busy. As the man entered the office, the young lawyer picked up the telephone and said, “Bill, I’m flying to New York on the Mitchell Brothers thing; it looks like it’s going to be a biggie. Also, we’ll need to bring Carl in from Houston on the Cimarron Case. By the way, Al Cunningham and Pete Finch want to come in with me as partners. Bill, you’ll have to excuse me, somebody just came in…”
He hung up and turned to the man who had just entered and said, “How may I help you?”
The man said, “I’m here to hook up the phone!”
We do not have to exaggerate our supposed talents or abilities to be acceptable to Jesus.
He loves us anyhow.
Scripture:
1 Corinthians 13:4-5
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
Humor:
A group of expectant fathers were in a waiting room, while their wives were in the process of delivering babies. A nurse came in and announced to one man that his wife had just given birth to twins. “That’s quite a coincidence” he responded, “I play for the Minnesota Twins!” A few minutes later another nurse came in and announced to another man that he was the father of triplets. “That’s amazing,” he exclaimed, “I work for the 3M company.” At that point, a third man slipped off his chair and laid down on the floor. Somebody asked him if he was feeling ill. “No,” he responded, “I happen to work for the 7-up company.”

2/7–Maturity begins to be seen when you can see your concern for others catching up with your concern for yourself.
February 7 is a perfect day to pause and remember something powerful: when you help someone else, you don’t just change their day — you help change the world a little bit at a time.
🌱 The Power of Small Acts
Helping others doesn’t always mean doing something big or dramatic. Sometimes it’s:
A phone call to someone who feels forgotten Holding a door Saying “I’m proud of you” Praying for someone quietly Sharing encouragement when someone is struggling
Small seeds grow big trees. Small kindness grows big hope.
💡 A Simple Truth
When you help someone else stand up, you strengthen your own foundation. There is something deeply healing about serving others. It reminds us:
We matter They matter We are all connected
📖 Scripture Thought
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2
You never know what someone is carrying. Your kindness might be the exact strength they needed to keep going.
❤️ A Short Story
There was a man walking along a beach covered with starfish after a storm. He picked them up one by one and threw them back into the ocean.
Someone told him, “There are thousands. You can’t make a difference.”
He picked up another one, threw it into the water, and said,
“I made a difference to that one.”
You don’t have to help everyone today.
Just help someone.
😊 Clean Humor Moment
I tried to help my neighbor clean his garage.
Turns out… he just wanted moral support and pizza.
Honestly, I think we both won that day.
🙌 Today’s Challenge
Before today ends, help one person in one simple way:
Encourage Serve Listen Give Pray
Then watch how it changes you too.
🌟 Closing Encouragement
Helping others isn’t about having extra time, extra money, or extra strength.
It’s about having an extra heart.
And here’s the beautiful part — kindness is contagious. When you help one person, they are more likely to help another. That’s how light spreads.
Make February 7 a day where someone else is glad you showed up.

You must have control of the authorship of your own destiny. The pan that writes your life story must be held in their own hand!
Story:
During the war years, wounded soldiers were transported to a medical unit for treatment. They were categorized into three groups: no hope, medical help, and dead.
A nurse followed a doctor from bed to bed attaching the appropriate notation on each. On one particular young man, the doctor gave the diagnosis as “no hope.” As the nurse walked away, she heard a whimper—“Name is Lou.”
Her heart melted and compassion flooded her emotions for this young man. She did the unthinkable. Glancing to see if she would be detected, she changed his tag. He recovered and later married.
In the name of our Lord, that is what we are to be about as believers, changing tags from no hope to hope in Christ. Who needs a tag change?
Scripture:
Romans 5:1-5
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

There’s something powerful about waking up each day with determination in your heart. Determination is what keeps you moving when progress feels slow, when doors close, and when life throws unexpected challenges your way. It’s the quiet voice inside you that says, “Try one more time.”
February is often when New Year excitement fades and reality sets in. Goals feel harder. Motivation isn’t as fresh. That’s exactly where determination steps in. Determination isn’t about how you feel — it’s about what you decide.
Determination says:
I will keep showing up. I will keep believing. I will keep working toward what God placed in my heart.
Many people quit not because they failed, but because they got tired. But determination reminds us that success often belongs to the ones who simply refused to quit.
Think about this: Seeds don’t grow overnight. They push through dark soil before they ever see sunlight. If seeds gave up underground, we’d never see the harvest. Your hard season may be your growing season.
Scripture for Today
“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9
That verse is determination in action. Keep going. Keep praying. Keep believing. Your “due season” is real.
Determination is also built in small daily choices:
Choosing hope when worry shows up.
Choosing effort when you feel tired.
Choosing faith when you can’t see the whole path.
You don’t have to move fast — you just have to keep moving forward.
And here’s some good news: Determination grows stronger every time you use it. Like a muscle, it builds through resistance. Every challenge you push through today is preparing you for tomorrow’s victory.
A Little Humor for the Day
I told my treadmill I was determined to run today…
It started running first and now we’re not speaking.
Today’s Challenge – February 6
Pick one thing you’ve been tempted to give up on — and take one step forward today. Just one. Determination isn’t about giant leaps. It’s about faithful steps.
Remember:
You are stronger than you feel.
You are closer than you think.
And with determination — and faith — quitting is not part of your story.
Make February 6 the day you decide:
I will keep going.
