Charles Francis Adams, 19th century political figure and diplomat, kept a diary. One day he entered: “Went fishing with my son today–a day wasted.” His son, Brook Adams, also kept a diary, which is still in existence.
On that same day, Brook Adams made this entry: “Went fishing with my father–the most wonderful day of my life!” The father thought he was wasting his time while fishing with his son, but his son saw it as an investment of time. The only way to tell the difference between wasting and investing is to know one’s ultimate purpose in life and to judge accordingly.
Extracting the precious from the worthless..If you can have and develop this talent in life, you will be a very valuable person.
Jesus told Lazurus to come forth. When others saw something worthless and of no use but to bury, Jesus saw life….precious life. There are plenty of people that have something precious hidden inside that almost no one (including themselves) can see.
Oh, to be able to see and recognize these precious jewels. People that the world has turned its back on . Maybe that person is a teacher or a friend, or whatever relationship.
I knew a man who would talk to me like I was indeed someone special. He wasn’t related, just a friend. He knew how to bring out the best in me. Do you bring out the best in people, or the worst?
There are people, who seemingly, cannot carry on a good conversation, but can sing like angels. There are people we have known, probably for some time, who have a great talent, or story…but we don’t know because we didn’t go deep enough.
We are too concerned about ourselves to find out about others…their needs, talents, and many things they have to contribute.
Heroes who look like ordinary people. There is a hero in every one of us, it just has to be awakened!

A missionary society wrote to David Livingstone and asked, “Have you found a good road to where you are? If so, we want to know how to send other men to join you.”
Livingstone wrote back, “If you have men who will come only if they know there is a good road, I don’t want them. I want men who will come if there is no road at all.”

2 Timothy 2:2
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

“CAUGHT IN THE ACTS
Sister Deena had just returned home from Sunday evening service when she was star “startled by a burglar. With great biblical authority she yelled, “Stop! Acts 2:38!”, which implies “Turn from your sin.”
The thief stopped dead in his tracks. Then the woman calmly called the police and explained what she had done.
As the officer cuffed the man, he asked the burglar, “Why did you stop”
“your burgling? All the old lady did was yell a Bible verse at you.”
“Bible verse?” replied the crook. “She said she had an ax and two .38s!”
If you can’t find five minutes, can you spare two or three?

I have written a lot lately about animals and insects because they are so amazing. When they come to earth they are hardwired with what they need. Nobody tells the birds that it’s time to fly south for the winter. They just come with the knowledge that they need.
Man, when he arrives on the other hand, only knows how to cry when he is hungry and not much else. Everything else is learned.
I know there’s many versions of the eagle and the chicken but I will tell the version that I know. An eagle’s egg got mixed up with some chicken eggs. It hatched out with some of the other chickens. Since the eagle couldn’t see himself he thought that he was a chicken. He pecked on the ground and only jumped a few feet. He imitated everything he saw his brothers and sisters do.
One day, while outside with his mother, he saw a majestic eagle fly above them. He wished so much that he could do that and fly so high. He told his mother that he would give about anything to be an eagle and be able to fly that high! She told him that he was a chicken and would always be a chicken.
You could be an eagle if you wouldn’t be so much of a chicken!!
Tomas Borge was a leader in the struggle against the totalitarian regime that had dominated his country, Nicaragua. During the revolution, Borge was captured and put in prison. While there he was subjected to the most extreme torture for over 500 hours.
After the revolution Borge was freed and become the Minister of the Interior. One day he found one of his torturers in jail. He walked up to this man who had inflicted such terrible, relentless and brutal pain upon him and said, “I am going to get my revenge from you”. He then held out his hand and said, “This is my revenge, I forgive you.”
Mark 8:22-25. And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him. And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought. And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.
The following was written by the late Erma Bombeck after she found out she had a fatal disease.
If I had my life to live over, I would have talked less and listened more.
I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained and the sofa faded.
I would have eaten the popcorn in the ‘good’ living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.
I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.
I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.
I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.
I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about grass.
This is so true! In life there are no practice runs or laps. There are also no re-do’s. We only have one time through to get it right….so, we had better make it good!!

Your life is shaped by the doors you walk through and those you walk past.
Story:
Bottled water, a concept I thought was utterly ridiculous when I first heard about. Never happen, I thought. Why should I buy something coming out at my sink freely? But it did happen, and is happening. I buy it and people all over the world do.
Has satan ever presented a thought to you and you thought, never happen….but it did. People have married and never thought trouble would come to their home, but satan worked his way in.He can even take the ridiculous and make it seem like that’s the way it is supposed to be.
Churches split when harmony and unity flowed like nothing could ever stop it. Satan is pictured in red suit, with horns, and a tail and a pitchfork. No, my friend, he is the slickest, smothest salesman of all time!

1 Peter 5:8
