6/30–Start Your Day Off Right Series

Story:

It is like the TV character Steve Urkel who would tear up anything and everything. Afterwards he would say ” Did I do that?” Seemingly he acted like he didn’t know that he had done anything wrong. He was in the dark about everything that his actions had done. He seemed innocent in any destruction he had caused.

People say hurtful things and act as if they had no idea that could be destructive to the relationship. They would act like what did I do, I only said so and so?

There is a little saying that we used to say when we were kids. It went something like sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me. Well, I’m here to say that words can be very hurtful. I would almost rather have the sticks and stones.

Words are like arrows shot from a bow and arrow once they leave the bow, the arrows can never return. Once you let your words proceed out of your mouth you can never grab them back.

Words are powerful especially to children who are so impressionable. We can’t wait for them to walk and talk and then we tell them to sit down and shut up!

We tell them they are dumb, clumsy and other statements of incompetence. We can program them with negative programming in the first few years of their lives that will take years of reprogramming for them to be productive in life!

Millions of children go to bed hungry tonight for lack of food and nourishment. Millions more will go to bed hungry tonight for lack of encouragement.

Words are powerful and life-changing. Words can build people up to accomplish great things, or tear them down and render them almost useless and helpless.

Scripture:

Ephesians 4:1-3

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Can You Spare A Minute Or So 6/30?

If you can’t find five minutes can you spare one or two?

Can you spare a minute or so?

[Message:]

Ever feel like life is throwing you tests you didn’t study for? Welcome to the real world—no cheat sheets, just coffee and prayer!

But here’s the good news: If God brought you to it, He can bring you through it. You’re not walking through this alone. He’s got your back—even when you trip over your own shoelaces.

[Scripture:]

Psalm 37:23-24 says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord… though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with His hand.”

[Closing encouragement:]

So smile today. Even if your hair’s a mess and your plans went sideways—God’s still in control. And He’s not done with you yet!

[Tagline:]

This has been your “Can You Spare a Minute or So?” — keep the faith and don’t forget to laugh a little today.

Always Strive To Finish Strong

The last day of the month is a powerful reminder: How you end something matters just as much as how you begin.

Maybe this month wasn’t perfect. Maybe you faced challenges, missed some goals, or felt like giving up. That’s okay. What matters now is that you finish strong.

Finishing strong isn’t about perfection—it’s about persistence.

It’s the decision to show up one more time. To believe again. To take another step even when you’re tired. It’s the quiet courage to say, “I’m not done yet.”

Life isn’t a sprint—it’s a journey. And every strong finish today sets the tone for a strong start tomorrow.

So take a deep breath. Lift your head. And make today count.

Here’s your motivation:

💡 “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

Let June close with intention, not regret. Finish it strong—and walk into July with boldness.

You’ve got more in you than you think.

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

Can You Spare A Minute Or So 6/29?

If you can’t find five minutes, can you spare one or two?

Hey there — can you spare a minute or so?

Let me encourage you with this: You’re not behind. Even if life hasn’t gone as planned… even if others seem farther ahead… you’re right where God can use you.

We all have different journeys. Different timing. Different battles.

Psalm 37:23 says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.”

That means your steps — even the slow ones, even the ones that feel like detours — are still in God’s hands.

So stop stressing over the timeline. You’re not late — you’re being led.

⏳ That’s your minute. Trust God’s pace — not the world’s pressure.

Don’t Let The Fire Go Out

Inside each of us is a spark—a passion, a dream, a purpose. But life has a way of trying to dim that fire. Setbacks, distractions, disappointments—they come like cold winds to smother what was once burning bright.

But hear this clearly: Your fire still burns.

Maybe it’s flickering, maybe it’s low, but it’s still there. And with just a little fuel—faith, action, and belief—it can blaze again.

No matter your age, your circumstances, or your past mistakes, it’s not too late. You can still pursue what sets your soul on fire. You can still rise. You can still impact the world around you in a powerful way.

Reignite your purpose today. Stir up that passion. Take one step toward the thing that lights you up.

Today’s spark:

💡 “A small flame can light a thousand others without losing its glow.”

Be that light. Be that fire. And don’t let anything—or anyone—put it out.

Choose Progress Over Perfection

So many people give up on their goals—not because they don’t care, but because they believe if they can’t do it perfectly, they shouldn’t do it at all.

Let’s break that lie today.

Progress will always beat perfection. You don’t need the perfect plan, the perfect words, or the perfect day to get started. What you need is movement. Forward is forward, even if it’s slow.

Some days, you’ll feel like you’re conquering the world. Other days, you’ll just be trying to hold it together. Both count. Both matter. Both are part of the process.

The truth is, no one becomes great overnight. Every success story is filled with moments of doubt, failure, restarts, and small wins. You’re not behind—you’re becoming.

Today’s encouragement:

💡 “Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds that you plant.” – Robert Louis Stevenson

Plant your seed today. One step. One action. One word of encouragement to yourself or someone else. You’re building something beautiful—imperfectly, but faithfully.

Keep going.

Story:

A man took his children to a restaurant. The six-year-old son asked if he could say grace. As heads were bowed he said, “God is great and God is Good. Let us thank Him for the food, and I would even thank you more if mom gets us ice-cream for dessert. And liberty and justice for all! Amen!”

Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby they heard a woman remark, “That’s what’s wrong with this country. Kids today don’t even know how to pray. Asking God for ice cream! Why, I never!” Hearing this, the son burst into tears and asked, “Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?” As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job and God was certainly not mad at him, and elderly gentleman approached the table.

He winked at my son and said, “I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer.” “Really?” the son asked.

Cross my heart.” Then in theatrical whisper he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), “Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes.”

Naturally, Dad bought the boy’s ice cream at the end of the meal. The boy stared at his for a moment and then did something about that will be remembered for the rest of life. He picked up his sundae and without a word walked over and placed it in front of the woman. With a big smile he told her, “Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes and my soul is good already.”
