Can You Spare A Minute Or So 3/14?

If you can’t find five minutes, can you spare one or two?

Illustration:  Arrogance has its own built-in misery.  The arrogant person may offend others, but he hurts himself more.  I was once stung by a honeybee.  The sting hurt me, but it hurt the bee more – the bee died as a result of that thrust, but I didn’t.

The Mighty Power Of Teamwork

Quote:

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” — Helen Keller

There is something powerful that happens when people work together. One person may have strength, another may have wisdom, and another may bring encouragement—but when those gifts are combined, amazing things can happen. Teamwork multiplies what individuals can do alone.

Life was never meant to be lived in isolation. Whether it’s family, friends, coworkers, or a community, we accomplish far more when we stand side by side instead of trying to carry every burden by ourselves.

Think about a group of people trying to move a heavy object. One person might struggle and strain, but when several people join in, the weight suddenly becomes manageable. The same principle applies to life’s challenges. When we work together, what once seemed impossible becomes achievable.

Even the greatest accomplishments in history were rarely done by one person alone. Behind every success story is usually a group of people who believed in the mission and supported each other along the way.

The Bible reminds us of this powerful truth:

“Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow.” — Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Teamwork means lifting each other up when someone is struggling. It means celebrating each other’s victories and offering support during difficult moments. When people unite around a shared purpose, their strength grows far beyond what any single person could achieve.

One thing I’ve noticed in life is that encouragement spreads. When one person offers a helping hand, it often inspires others to do the same. Before long, a small act of teamwork can turn into something much bigger.

The truth is, none of us has every talent or every answer. But when we combine our strengths and support each other’s weaknesses, we create something stronger than any individual effort.

So today, look for opportunities to work with someone rather than trying to do everything alone. Offer help where you can, and don’t be afraid to accept help when you need it.

Because when people stand together, support each other, and work toward a common goal, incredible things can happen.

Remember:

Teamwork doesn’t divide the credit—it multiplies the impact.

And sometimes the greatest victories in life are the ones we achieve together.

3/13– Start Your Day Off Right Series

Quote:

3/13–There comes a time in life when you have to choose to turn the page, write another book or simply close it

Story:

3/13Crystal Meth and the Funeral Home— I once knew a girl that was very pretty.  I had not seen her in a long time when she died at about age 30 to 35.  I knew her family, so we went to the viewing.  I could not believe my eyes.  She looked like an old lady.  I was not familar with that drug and have never seen such devastation.  It peaked my interest, so I went online to find  out more.  There were beautiful young ladies on there that showed their pictures every year for 10 years or so.  They went from looking like a beauty queen to looking like the wicked witch (even worse) of the Wizard of Oz.  I can’t imagine anyone taking that knowing what it will do them.  Why would someone want that sentence of death? Give me some of that, I just have to have me some of that. I just have to look like that.  I just can’t imagine such.

Scripture:

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The Power Of A Controlled Tongue

Words are small things, but they carry enormous power. A few spoken words can build someone up, tear someone down, heal a broken heart, or start a conflict that lasts for years. Learning to control our tongue may be one of the most powerful habits we can develop.

Many people spend years trying to control their finances, their weight, or their schedule, but the Bible reminds us that one of the greatest disciplines is controlling what we say.

Words Can Build or Destroy

Think about a time when someone encouraged you with just the right words. Maybe it was a teacher who believed in you, a friend who spoke hope when you felt discouraged, or a family member who reminded you that you mattered.

Those words probably stayed with you for years.

On the other hand, many people can remember hurtful words that were spoken decades ago. Words have a way of sticking with us.

That’s why choosing our words carefully matters so much.

A Controlled Tongue Brings Peace

Many arguments, broken friendships, and hurt feelings begin with something said in anger or frustration. When we learn to pause before speaking, we often avoid problems that could have lasted a lifetime.

Sometimes the most powerful words we can say are no words at all.

Taking a moment to think before speaking can calm a heated moment and protect relationships we care about.

A Controlled Tongue Shows Wisdom

People who speak carefully are often respected because others know their words carry thought and sincerity.

Not every opinion has to be spoken, and not every disagreement needs to become an argument. Wisdom often shows itself in restraint.

When we speak less but speak thoughtfully, people tend to listen more closely.

A Controlled Tongue Spreads Encouragement

One of the greatest benefits of controlling our tongue is that it allows us to focus on speaking words that help others rather than harm them.

Imagine how much better the world would be if people made it a goal each day to encourage someone.

A kind word can brighten a day.

A compliment can boost someone’s confidence.

A word of appreciation can restore someone’s hope.

Scripture Reminder

The Bible gives powerful wisdom about this in James 1:19:

“Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.”

That simple instruction can save us from countless regrets.

Final Thought

Before speaking today, ask yourself three simple questions:

Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind?

If the answer is yes, speak it boldly.

If not, silence might be the wiser path.

When we learn to control our tongue, we gain something far greater than silence—we gain influence, wisdom, and the ability to bring life to the people around us.

And sometimes the most powerful thing a person can say… is something worth saying.

Jesus Healed The Woman All Bowed Over

Hold your head up, God will help you!

Luke 13:11,12 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

3/12–Start Your Day Off Right Series

Quote:

3/12–The struggle you are in today is developing the strength you need for tomorrow so don’t give up

Story:

3/12–What we cannot do alone – we can do together.

More than 350 people of the tiny town of Stromsburg, Neb., formed a human chain to transfer thousands of books from the town’s old library to its new one.

Residents stood shoulder-to-shoulder to pass sacks containing a few books each to the new facility, a distance of a few blocks.

Most of the old library’s contents were trucked over in advance, but city leaders wanted to involve the community.

“There were people of all ages passing those books,” said Mayor Elaine Westring. “They will always remember this day.”

Sounds like a church, doesn’t it? Together, we pass along the gospel one person at a time.

Scripture:

Psalms 133

A SONG OF DEGREES OF DAVID.

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is

for brethren to dwell together in unity!

It is like the precious ointment upon the head,

that ran down upon the beard,

even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;

As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion:

for there the LORD commanded the blessing,

even life for evermore.
