Don’t Forget, Life Has An Expiration Date

My uncle used to say if he couldn’t take it with him he didn’t want to go. The reality is we all are going to die and we can’t take anything with us. Therefore, we have to use it before we die to do anyone any good.

Everything in life has an expiration date. Just like the date manufacturers put on all the goods they sell that tells the last date it is safe for us that we should use their product. There is no guarantee for us to use it after that certain date.

Similarly, there is a limited time for us to be able to do what we intend to do. So we must get busy to get done the items on our mission statement, and our to do list and our bucket lists.

I had a bad heart attack in July, 2012. They said I cheated death and that I was at Death’s door! I was in the hospital for about seven days and four of those I spent in the Critical Care Unit or CCU. You had better believe that I reviewed my life and all the things I should’ve and could’ve done.

I knew that even though I might have cheated Death that Death would be back for me again one day. Having this knowledge, I found it inexcusable that I wouldn’t be ready next time. So that’s what I’m doing at this moment trying to mark off some items. on my bucket list. No one else can do that for you. The responsibility lies in you and in you alone!

When a flashlight grows dim or quits working, do you just throw it away? Of course not. You change the batteries. When a person messes up or finds themselves in a dark place, do you cast them aside? Of course not! You help them change their batteries. Some need AA-Attention & Affection; some need AAA-Attention, Affection, & Acceptance; some need C-Compassion; some need D-Direction. And if they still don’t seem to shine; simply sit with them quietly & share your light.

12/21– Can You Spare A Minute?

The Same Joke One day in the village, there was a gathering of lots of people around a wise man. Most of them complained to the wise man about a problem, which, the wise man had heard again many times in the past. The wise man was silent for a moment.

Then he told the villagers a joke and the whole audience roared in laughter. After a couple of minutes, he started telling them another joke. But it was the same joke, again. When he finished, only a few of the villagers smiled.

Then he told the same joke for the third time, and no one laughed anymore. The wise man smiled and told the villagers, “You cannot laugh at the same joke over and over. So why are you always crying about the same problem? Why are you always angry about the same problem?”

12/20–Robert Fulghum wrote in the Kansas City Times, “Most of what I really need to know about how to live, and what to do, and how to be, I learned in kindergarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the sandbox at nursery school.

“These are the things I learned: Share everything. Play fair. Don’t hit people. Put things back where you found them. Clean up your own mess. Don’t take things that aren’t yours. Say you’re sorry when you hurt somebody . . . When you go out into the world, watch for traffic, hold hands, and stick together. ”

This writer has captured part of what Jesus meant when he said, “Unless you become like little children, you won’t enter the kingdom of heaven.”

Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.

My Father And Mother wanted me to have good grades, but more than anything, they wanted me to have good conduct.

Can You Spare A Minute 12/20?

If you can’t find five minutes, can you spare just two or three?

12/20–Can You Spare A Minute?

10/6–12/20–Most people are not in the arena of because they don’t want to fight or get knocked down, so they spend their entire life sitting on the sidelines.

Discouragement is one of the main weapons of the enemy. It is one of the most used.

Discouragement will catch a ride with you on the way to work. If it misses you it will be there when you get there. Then it will try to catch a ride with you on your way back home.

Might I suggest to you that you make a list? Get a sheet of paper, preferably a lined sheet of paper. Draw a vertical line down the middle. On one side put everything good. Now, if you are not too ashamed on the other side of that vertical line put everything that is bad. I hope if you start with the good side first that you don’t ever make it to the bad side.

They asked George Bernard Shaw if he had his life to live over who would he like to be. He said the man he never was. I don’t even know you but I know this about you that you have the ability to do more. The very fact that God woke you up this morning means that God isn’t through with you yet. I would read the Bible through five times but it will take five years and I’m already 60 years old. Well, how old will you be in five years if you don’t read it five times?

Oliver Wendell Holmes said that most people go to their grave with their music still in them. The cemetery is richer than Fort Knox. In the cemetery are songs never sung, books never written, apologies never made and love never expressed. Someday Isle is a lonely place to be marooned. Millions of people are stuck on Someday I’ll do this that or the other.

You Can Learn A Lot From Children

The Gifts Of God Are Available To His Children

For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

Get Rid Of Bad Feelings Before You Start Smelling Bad

A kindergarten teacher had decided to let her class play a game.

The teacher told each child in the class to bring along a plastic bag containing a few potatoes. Each potato will be given a name of a person that the child hates. So the number of potatoes that a child will put in his/her plastic bag will depend on the number of people he/she hates.

So when the day came, every child brought some potatoes with the name of the people he/she hated. Some had 2 potatoes, some 3 while some up to 5 potatoes. The teacher then told the children to carry the potatoes in the plastic bag with them wherever they go for 1 week.

Days after days passed, and the children started to complain due to the unpleasant smell let out by the rotten potatoes. Besides, those having 5 potatoes also had to carry heavier bags. After 1 week, the children were relieved because the game had finally ended.

The teacher asked: “How did you feel while carrying the potatoes with you for 1 week?” The children let out their frustrations and started complaining of the trouble that they had to go through having to carry the heavy and smelly potatoes wherever they go.

Then the teacher told them the hidden meaning behind the game. The teacher said: “This is exactly the situation when you carry your hatred for somebody inside your heart. The stench of hatred will contaminate your heart and you will carry it with you wherever you go. If you cannot tolerate the smell of rotten potatoes for just 1 week, can you imagine what is it like to have the stench of hatred in your heart for your lifetime?”

Moral: Throw away any hatred for anyone from your heart so that you will not carry burden for a lifetime. Forgiving others is the best attitude to take. Negativity about someone will keep peace of your mind away from you. Remember the good things about him/her, and let go of the hatred.

12/19–Start Your Day Off Right Series

Quote:

12/19–Hold Your Head Up

Story:

12/19–In the center of Main Street in Enterprise, Alabama, stands one of the strangest monuments in the world. It’s a memorial to an insect! Handsomely carved in stone is the likeness of a boll weevil. In early plantation days almost everyone in the community raised cotton. But as the years rolled on, a serious pestilence infested the area in the form of a small beetle that punctured the boll of the plant. As a result, it became almost impossible to bring a season’s growth to maturity.

George Washington Carver, along with several other scientists, became deeply concerned about the situation and began intensive studies to see if any substitute crop could be grown in that part of the country.

Raising peanuts was the answer, for they could be planted and harvested with very little loss. In time, cotton gins were forgotten in that region, and it became known as an outstanding peanut center of the world. Soon the farmers’ profits far mexceeded what they had earned from their best cotton yield. In the end, they realized that the destructive insect they had feared had actually triggered the research that brought them prosperity.

God often allows trials to unsettle our lives for a blessed purpose. Perhaps we are trying to “grow cotton” when we should be “raising peanuts.” If so, the delays and disappointments we experience are just the gracious “boll weevils” sent to redirect us so that we will plant the crop of God’s choosing!

Romans 5:1-5

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
