The Ant Is One Of The Toughest Of Nature

Ants are one of the toughest of anything one could come in contact with. Have a fire ant mound by the mailbox? Kick it, destroy it as best as you can. They will pick up and build right back.

Are there lessons to be learned from this? You’d better believe it! I knew a man that was doing some work on a farm and saw a huge fire ant mound. He lit it and watched it burn. He was so confident that he had won. A week or two later he returned, and remembered the ants. He looked and he saw the charred remnants of the mound . He was about to claim victory when he noticed that they had just moved their mound down a few feet. The ones that had survived the fire had made a heap of the dead, and just began again a few feet farther down. Don’t let anything or anyone stop you or your dream!

A man did a study to show he could keep food unopened in a room and keep ants from getting to it. In the center of a large room, he placed a huge wooden tub filled with water. He placed a barstool in the center of the tub and on the barstool he put a plate filled with chocolate candy. Around the tub, he painted a wide band of slow drying glue. He then sealed the room tight. Six days later he checked the room. Ants were all over the candy.

How did they manage this? The first obstacle was the glue. Hundreds of ants sacrificed their bodies to become a bridge for the others. The water was the second obstacle. The ants carried up little bits of grass and wood and put them together with their spit to form a bridge to swing across to the leg of the barstool. Another kind of ant took an easier route. They simply walked up the wall, up to the ceiling over the stool and dropped onto the chocolate!

Another example of persistence is the Soldier or Marching ants of Malaysia. They march across the jungle, devouring whatever is in their path. If they come to a river and want to cross it, some break away from the group and a few go upstream, a few go downstream until they find the exact spot to cross, then go back to the colony and somehow communicate which way to go. The spot they choose is a sharp bend in the river, where the water happens to be flowing diagonally. The ants interlock with each other to become balls about the size of coconuts, then roll down the bank into the river and let the current carry them across. On the other side, they untangle and continue their march. (Isn’t that amazing?)

10/26–Be A Reflection

Story:

10/26–Criticizing is a little man’a tactics. It takes a big man to refrain from criticizing. Belittling others shows just how small you and your thinking really are.

I’m not much for bragging or boasting it on myself but I am pretty generous to brag on others.

A big man is not afraid of making others bigger. He doesn’t see it as a threat to his bigness. A big man doesn’t feel like he has to cut you down to make him feel bigger.

When you find the good in people and sincerely complement them you show to me your bigness and your greatness.

Philippians 2: 3-4. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

If I put you higher than me and you put me higher than you then we will be equal! It does nothing for me to see others fail or not do good. It does not add anything to my success or stature. Bringing down others doesn’t lift me up any.

Some people’s whole outlook is trying to find something wrong with someone. They have looked for the wrong so long the good seems to be hid from them. It takes a trained eye to look for the good and be able to spot it. It might take a little practice before you’re able to see the good if you’ve always looked for the bad.

Little minded people major in the minor! They take some little insignificant point and blow it up into something that it is really not.

Some people are merely legends in their own minds. They have nominated themselves and voted for themselves but nobody else paid any attention. Their continual criticizing others is part of them trying to get attention even though they’re going about it the wrong way.

Can You Spare A Minute 10/26?

If you can’t find two minutes can you spare one?

10/26–Can You Spare A Minute?

—10/26–Both the hummingbird and the vulture fly over our nation’s deserts.

All vultures see is rotting meat, because that is what they look for. They thrive on that diet.

But hummingbirds ignore the smelly flesh of dead animals. Instead, they look for the colorful blossoms of desert plants.

The vultures live on what was. They live on the past. They fill themselves with what is dead and gone.

But hummingbirds live on what is. They seek new life. They fill themselves with freshness and life.

Each bird finds what it is looking for. We all do.

Matthew 18:19-20

Can You Spare A Minute 10/25?

–Can You Spare A Minute?

I feel like I had two mothers… my natural Mother and my wife’s mother, my spiritual mother.

One thing my Spiritual Mother  taught me was not to have pity parties.

She once told me that she had never gotten the Lord to do anything for her trying to get Him to feel sorry for her.

I have come to the same conclusion. You can plan the pity party, buy the cake, balloons and whistles but nobody ever comes.

I heard that 80% don’t care if you have a problem and the other 20% are even tickled about it!

Laugh and the whole world laughs with you but if you cry you cry alone

Is That Jesus Knocking At Your Heart?

A nurse on the pediatric ward, before listening to the little one’s chests, would plug the stethoscope into their ears and let them listen to their own heart.

Their eyes would always light up with awe, but she never got a response equal to four year old David’s comment

Gently she tucked the stethoscope into his ear and placed the disk over his heart.

“Listen, she said… what do you suppose that is? He drew his eyebrows together in a puzzled line and looked up as if lost in the mystery of the strange tap-tap-tapping deep in his chest.

Then his face broke out in a wondrous grin and he asked,

“Is that Jesus  knocking?”

Church & Signs:

The world is ONLY CHANGED by your GODLY EXAMPLE, NOT YOUR OPINION!

🎼 I AM🎶

Story:

10/24–

10/12–A little girl was watching her mother prepare a fish for dinner. Her mother cut the head and tail off the fish and then placed it into a baking pan. The little girl asked her mother why she cut the head and tail off the fish. Her mother thought for a while and then said, “I’ve always done it that way – that’s how babicka (Czech for grandma) did it.”

Not satisfied with the answer, the little girl went to visit her grandma to find out why she cut the head and tail off the fish before baking it.

Grandma thought for a while and replied, “I don’t know. My mother always did it that way.”

So the little girl and the grandma went to visit great grandma to find ask if she knew the answer.

Great grandma thought for a while and said, “Because my baking pan was too small to fit in the whole fish”.

How much more trouble would it have been just to buy a larger pan instead of  settling for less fish? How many times have we compromised ( it settled) and went after the smaller fish in life when it would not have required much more just to have made room for bigger? https://youtu.be/0oWH3t8qwXI

Make up your mind today to not settle for less!

Scripture:

2 Chronicles 12:9-10

So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house; he took all: he carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made. Instead of which king Rehoboam made shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard, that kept the entrance of the king’s house.
