12/8–Start Your Day Off Right Series

Story:

12/8–Pebble Beach on the coast of California is a lovely area that typifies the advantages of friction.  Ceaseless waves thunder ashore and dash the beach.  The pitiless pounding of the waves tosses and grinds the stones together.  They are dashed against the rugged, ageless cliffs … this goes on year after year.

The result is round, polished stones that are collected by tourists as ornaments.  Near Pebble Beach is a quiet cove.  A natural formation serves as a breakwater.  Sheltered by the cliff are numerous stones.  They are unsought and unwanted.  They have been spared the wear caused by the pounding waves.  They have remained rough and unpolished.

When testing times come, we may be buffeted about; but the rough edges are knocked off of our lives.  The friction of trials can cause wonderful features to be brought to the surface.  Believers who understand the friction of trials will be able to face life’s hard times.

Scripture:

Romans 5:3-5

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Humor:

Do our actions have consequences? Does cause and effect really exist?

George W. Bush, was in an airport lobby, and noticed a man in a long flowing white robe with a long flowing white beard and flowing white hair. The man had a staff in one hand and some stone tablets under the other arm.

George W. approached the man and inquired, “Aren’t you Moses?”

The man ignored George W. and stared at the ceiling.

George W. positioned himself more directly in the man’s view and asked again,

“Aren’t you Moses?”

The man continued to stare at the ceiling.

George W. tugged at the man’s sleeve and asked once again, “Aren’t you Moses?”

The man finally responded in an irritated voice, “Yes, I am.”

George W. asked him why he was so irritable and the man replied, “The last time I spoke to a bush I had to spend 40 years in the desert!”

Static on the line

Like the old black and white tv’s  with the outside antenna we had to turn to get it to come in clear, we have to clear our minds of all negative thoughts and static

Beware Of Greed, Desire Out Of Control

Normal desires of life compared with greed remind one of the difference between a fire used for cooking and the out of control forest fire.   The forest fire can even “crown”.   This is a term fire fighters use to indicate a fire that has leaped to the very top of the trees and is blown along by the wind.

Greed can be like that “crowned” forest fire.    Blown along by the wind, it can lead to complete destruction for the person.

Greed is nothing more than desire out of control.

12/7—Sometimes a quote doesn’t say everything.

But it says enough to trigger the reader’s mind.

Story:

12/7—It’s been said that teenagers all go through a stage where they feel “smarter” than their parents.

Now consider Jesus. While still very young, since He was perfect, He no doubt was smarter than His mother and foster father. He certainly astounded the teachers at the temple, didn’t He?

But did He take advantage of this? No, but the Bible informs us He “continued subject to them”.

Youths today can learn a great deal from His example.

Scripture:

Ephesians 6:1-3

Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Humor:

At the end of a tough year of internal conflict and church struggles, a pastor addressed his deacons and announced that he had become convinced that he was to accept the invitation of another church to become their pastor.

He further explained that he was convinced that Jesus had told him to make the change.

One of the deacons quickly stood and said, “Well, if that’s the case, I move that we all stand and sing “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.”

Can You Spare A Minute Ir So 12/7?

If you can’t find five minutes, can you spare two or three?

12/7–Can You Spare A Minute?

If you were someone else would you choose you to be on your team?

When I was growing up it was hurtful to be the last one picked, or not to be picked at all.

When the four men could not get the man with the palsy in the door to see Jesus, they tore the roof off to get him in!

I want four, tear off the roof guys on my team!

Have Faith And Hold On To Your Dreams

12/7–Have faith and hold on champ you will get there…

We all have dreams and goals and at some point in time we do get stuck and question ourselves around it.If you are serious about your dreams and goals than one thing is for sure *It will come true*.

At times we will want to quit and give up but do not be that person who had the chance to turn their dreams into reality but due to distractions wasn’t able to.

When things get tough ‘hold on’ and remind yourself the importance of your dream. When your going through tough times ‘hold on’ it’ll be worth it, when there’s hardship ‘hold on’ it’ll be over soon, when life brings you to your knees ‘hold on’ and rise from within, when faced with challenges ‘hold on’ your strong enough to battle them, when faced with distractions ‘hold on’ shake them of and stay focused, when faced with negativity ‘hold on’ and smile through the hate, when these hardships bring tears to your eyes and you want to quit so bad ‘hold on champ’ you are doing great just keep moving forward, when you want to throw in the towel and have had enough of the struggle ‘hold on’ your almost at that finish line.

Dreams and goals takes courage and determination to achieve. It takes a special mindset and once achieved builds a different character within us.Each one of us has this special mindset including you do ‘hold on and don’t give up’.

Devise a plan – hold on – don’t give up – push through the hardship – don’t just get through the journey but get valuable lessons from the journey – become a champion and don’t ever let anyone be little you. You know your self worth not anyone else.

12/6–Start Your Day Off Right Series

Quote:

12/6–If You Can Only Reach One Person

Story:

12/6–Once there was a hunter out hunting bears. The hunter spotted a bear and carefully raise his rifle and took aim.

He was just about to pull the trigger when he heard a voice say: “Wait Mr. Hunter”!

The voice came from the bear. The bear continued to say: “Let’s sit down and talk things over.” The hunter lowered his rifle and sat down on a log with the bear.

The bear said to the hunter: “Let’s try to be reasonable and reach a compromise. “

The hunter took off his hat and scratched his head and said okay.

The bear asked the hunter just what was it that he wanted.

The hunter said: “A fur coat.”

The bear replied: “That sounds reasonable.”

The bear went on to say: “All I want is a full stomach.” That sounded fair enough too.

So the hunter and the bear discussed things a little more.

Then suddenly after a flurry of activity, the bear was alone.

The bear had his full-stomach, and the hunter was inside the fur coat.

Sometimes it is better to be a little cold and go without than to get wrapped up in unnecessary luxury items.

Scripture:

Hebrews 2:3

How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

Humor:

The story is told of three very well-to-do fellows who encountered a ferocious storm while sailing their yacht.

They were capsized and washed up on an uninhabited island. The radio equipment was destroyed in the storm. It was truly a Gilligan moment.

They looked for wood to build a fire and hopefully attract a search and rescue party. No luck John took a passive approach to the whole experience and spent his time lounging on the white sandy beach while the other two frantically searched for a means of rescue.

John’s two friends chastised him severely for his apparent unconcern. John just chipped away at a coconut and stared at the peaceful waves.

“But I am a Christian and a multi-millionaire”’ John shot back.

“Well, a lot of good that will do you out here in the middle of nowhere”, they complained.

John responded, “No, you do not understand. You see, I am very active in my church and I am a tither – I guarantee that my pastor will find us before Sunday!!”
