Story:
Fill Someone Else’s Cup
There are people who want you to fill their cup one day and then they’re back the next with their cup again for you to fill it back up! They seemingly never think about filling someone else’s cup up.
They are definitely on the Me channel and only thinking about themselves!
Philippians 2: 3-4 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
If I put you up higher than myself, and you put me higher than yourself we should be eye to eye, and on the same level. If I fill your cup up then some of the overflow may rundown on to me! Start in today trying to make others your focus. It seems that nearly everyone wants to be served but few want to serve.
To be the greatest in the Kingdom we must be first like Jesus, and be able to serve. To be great in the Kingdom you have to be willing to be servant of all.
God loves humbleness and hates pride. Jesus was a King but took on the form of a servant. He left us the example to follow. That’s why Ok at the Lord’s Supper he girded himself with a towel and began to wash the Disciples feet. We have to lay our bib down to grab the towel.

Scripture:
Acts 2:1-12
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

10/4–Creatures of Custom
As a boy in the Middle West, I used to amuse myself by holding a stick across a gateway that the sheep had to pass through.
After the first few sheep had jumped over the stick, I took it away; but all the other sheep leaped through the gateway over an imaginary barrier.
The only reason for their jumping was that those in front had jumped.
The sheep is not the only animal with that tendency. Almost all of us are prone to do what others are doing, to believe what others are believing, to follow, without question, the testimony of prominent men.

A man And The Million Frogs
–A farmer came into town and asked the owner of a restaurant if he could use a million frog legs.
The restaurant owner was shocked and asked the man where he could get so many frog legs! The farmer replied, “There is a pond near my house that is full of frogs–millions of them. They croak all during the night and are about to drive me crazy!”
So the restaurant owner and the farmer made an agreement that the farmer would deliver frogs to the restaurant five hundred at a time for the next several weeks.
The first week, the farmer returned to the restaurant looking rather sheepish, with two scrawny little frogs. The restaurant owner said, “Well…where are all the frogs?”
The farmer said, “I was mistaken. There were only these two frogs in the pond. But they sure were making a lot of noise!”
Next time you hear somebody criticizing or making fun of you, remember it’s probably just a couple of noisy frogs.
Also remember that problems always seem bigger in the dark. Have you ever lain in your bed at might worrying about things which seem almost overwhelming — like a million frogs croaking?

10/2–Never forget a friend, and never let a friend forget you.
Story:
I heard a story about a man touring a mental institution. The tour guide told the man that there were five floors there and the further up you went the worse off the patients were.
On the first floor the patients were only mildly ill, but by the time you got to the fifth floor they wee severely ill. On the first floor was a man staring out into space muttering Lulu, Lulu, Lulu. The man touring asked what was wrong. The tour guide said that twenty-five years ago the man was left at the altar by Lulu on their wedding day. The man said that he could understand how that would be hard.
When they finally arrived at the fifth floor that was a man muttering Lulu but more uncontrollable than the first man. The man touring wanted to know what was going on. The tour guide said that twenty-five years ago that man had indeed married Lulu!
No matter how bad you think that you might think you have it someone has it worse. Sometimes what you consider bad can get worse. It rains on the just and unjust. Did you ever think you had it bad until the thing got worse? Then you finally realize that you didn’t have it so bad after all.No matter how bad you may think have it, someone else has it worse, much worse.
You could be griping and then your problem turn out to be a Lulu of a problem. I wouldn’t be brave enough to ask to trade my problem off for fear of getting a worse one that I might not be able to handle.
There are plenty of people who have it worse than you do. Look around and count your blessings. Don’t ever think that you are the only one who has ever had it hard. Plenty of people have had it worse than us and still held their head up high, and won the victory.
You may trade your cross off to discover that your cross was the smallest one they made. I want to glory in tribulation.

10/3–Can You Spare A Minute?
10/3–One day a little boy complained that his new shoes were hurting his feet. I looked down at his feet. No wonder they hurt. His shoes were on the wrong feet! When I changed them he felt better and was soon the liveliest little fellow in the group. Sometimes our lives seem all sour and stale. We find fault with everyone around us. We need to stop and take a good look at our feet. If we were wearing the same shoes the other fellow wears, would we be happy?
Broken Heart I heard a story about a man who invited his neighbor to attend church with him. On the way home, the neighbor said, “I noticed you have a new preacher.” “Yes,” said his friend, “We fired the old one. He was always telling us unless we repented, we were going to hell.” “But,” the neighbor replied, “your new preacher said the very same thing this morning.” “True,” was the reply, “but our old preacher acted like he was happy about the situation. When our new preacher says this, it seems to break his heart.”

Quote:
Every minute someone leaves this world behind. We are all in “the line” without knowing it. We never know how many people are before us.
We can not move to the back of the line.
We can not step out of the line.
We can not avoid the line.
So while we wait in line –
Make moments count.
Make priorities.
Make the time.
Make your gifts known.
Make a nobody feel like a somebody.
Make your voice heard.
Make the small things big.
Make someone smile.
Make the change.
Make love.
Make up.
Make peace.
Make sure to tell your people they are loved.
Make sure to have no regrets.
Make sure you are ready.
Story:
10/2–There was a farmer who sold a pound of butter to the baker. One day, the baker decided to weigh the butter to see if he was getting a pound and he found that he was not. This angered him and he took the farmer to court.
The judge asked the farmer if he was using any measure. The farmer replied, you see Your Honour, I am primitive. I don’t have a proper measure, but I do have a scale. The judge asked, Then how do you weigh the butter?
The farmer replied, Your Honour since long before the baker started buying butter from me, I have been buying a pound of bread from him. Everyday, when the baker brings the bread, I put it on the scale and give him the same weight in butter. If anyone is to be blamed, it is the baker.
The moral of the story: We get back in life what we give to others. Whenever you take an action, ask yourself this question: am I giving fair value for the wages or money I hope to make? Honesty and dishonesty become a habit.
Some people practise dishonesty and can lie with a straight face. Others lie so much that they don’t even know what the truth is any more. But who are they deceiving?
Themselves more than anyone else. Honesty can be put across gently. Some people take pride in being brutally honest and, in the process, hurt others. It seems they get a bigger kick out of the brutality than the honesty. The choice of words and tact are important while expressing the truth.
