A rich man was determined to give his mother a birthday present that would outshine all others. He read of a bird that had a vocabulary of 4000 words, could speak in numerous languages and sing 3 operatic arias.
He immediately bought the bird for $50,000 and had it delivered to his mother. The next day he phoned to see if she had received the bird.
What did you think of the bird?” he asked. She replied, “It was delicious.”

One day a small rat surfaced from his nest to find himself between the paws of a huge sleeping lion, which immediately awoke and seized the rat.
The rat pleaded with the fierce beast to be set free, and the lion, being very noble and wise, and in no need of such small prey, agreed to let the relieved rat go on his way.
Some days later in the same part of the forest, a hunter had laid a trap for the lion, and it duly caught him, so that the lion was trussed up in a strong net, helpless, with nothing to do than wait for the hunter to return.
But it was the rat who came along next, and seeing the lion in need of help, promptly set about biting and gnawing through the net, which soon began to unravel, setting the great lion free.
The moral of the story is of course to make the world your debtor – even the humblest of folk may one day be of use.

If you can’t find two minutes, can you spare just one?

The Me channel is a boring channel. The Us channel is much more fulfilling.
It is amazing how much richer and fuller life is when you get your mind off yourself and think rather on others. When you help other people, you cannot help getting help yourself.
If I fill your cup to overflow then I should have some of it spill over on me.
Personally, I am happier when I think about others and try to help as many as I can. It may be true that a taker may eat better in this life, but a giver will sleep better.”
And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him. And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought. And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly. And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.
Much sooner than you can anticipate, you will be the silent guest at your own funeral.
No doubt there will be relatives and friends present to mourn for you whom you haven’t seen in years.
After the preacher delivers a message in your memory, you will be taken to the graveyard, given a final farewell and buried.
The retirement that you spent your life working for will be gone forever. Remember the new car that you worried about scratching? Its new owner just wrecked it! The newlyweds bought your house and have redecorated the room that you had at last decorated to your liking.
Your personal belongings have been sorted and some discarded. The dog is making a bed out of your favorite old coat. Other clothes of yours that no one could wear or did not want have been boxed and given to Goodwill.
Your personal treasures that were valuable only to you-the carefully preserved flower, the lock of hair, the torn picture, the stained postcard-have been burned as trash. You attended a number of funerals in your lifetime, but for some reason you just never expected to be lying in the casket yourself.
Sure, someday, but not that particular day. “Maybe tomorrow,” you always thought, “but not today.” You remember telling the Lord each time you thought your time was close, “Not this time, Lord. Not today. Maybe tomorrow.”
Sooner or later, everyone runs out of time. Paul states that everyone has an appointment with death and then the judgment (Hebrews 9:27). The only time that you can decide whether or not your death will be a blessing is today while you are alive. Today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2). Today is the day to do the Lord’s work. “
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all of your might, for in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working, nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom” (Ecc 9:10). Sooner or later, everyone runs out of time but no one runs out of eternity. Doesn’t it make more sense to spend your time preparing for that which will not end, rather than squandering your time trying to hold on to that which will not last?

Charles Francis Adams, 19th century political figure and diplomat, kept a diary. One day he entered: “Went fishing with my son today–a day wasted.” His son, Brook Adams, also kept a diary, which is still in existence. On that same day, Brook Adams made this entry: “Went fishing with my father–the most wonderful day of my life!” The father thought he was wasting his time while fishing with his son, but his son saw it as an investment of time. The only way to tell the difference between wasting and investing is to know one’s ultimate purpose in life and to judge accordingly.
Once when a Lion was asleep a little Mouse began running up and down upon him; this soon wakened the Lion, who placed his huge paw upon him, and opened his big jaws to swallow him.
Pardon, O King,” cried the little Mouse: “forgive me this time, I shall never forget it: who knows but what I may be able to do you a turn some of these days?” The Lion was so tickled at the idea of the Mouse being able to help him, that he lifted up his paw and let him go.
Some time after the Lion was caught in a trap, and the hunters who desired to carry him alive to the King, tied him to a tree while they went in search of a waggon to carry him on.
Just then the little Mouse happened to pass by, and seeing the sad plight in which the Lion was, went up to him and soon gnawed away the ropes that bound the King of the Beasts. “Was I not right?” said the little Mouse. Little friends may prove great friends.

God’s PURPOSE for YOU is WAY BIGGER than ANYONE’S OPINION of YOU!
Story:
Galatians 6: 7. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
This is a law not a suggestion. This is a law, like the law of gravity. A law is not a fluke that happens just every once in a while. No, it happens every time. Like the way the law of gravity operates. Every time you jump up, you will come down somewhere, sometime.
God is not mocked. If I went into a restaurant and ordered a meal then I am expected to give some method of payment to the restaurant. If I just got up and walked out the restaurant would not be able to operate very long. If I don’t pay they don’t intend to be mocked. They will probably get some person in authority to help them recover their money that is owed to them.”
