Are You A Truthful Leader?

Are You a Leader? A young girl was filling out an application for college when she came across the question: Are you a leader?

She thought for a moment and then decided that she had better be totally honest.

Her answer was “No.” She was afraid that because of that answer, the college would reject her application.

However, one month later she received a letter back from the school that read: “Dear Candidate, We would like to inform you that this year we have already reviewed more than a thousand applications. To date, there will be some 1,322 new leaders attending our program next year. We are in the pleasant position to inform you that we have accepted your application because we felt it was imperative that leaders have at least one follower.”” from “Storytelling: 99 Inspiring Stories for Presentations: Inspire your Audience & Get your Message Through (Storytelling, inspirational stories & presentation zen, mentoring 101,ted talks)” by Barry Powell

Scripture:

2 Corinthians 10:12

For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

3/26–Everyday!

Story:

The story is told of Franklin Roosevelt, who often endured long receiving lines at the White House.

He complained that no one really paid any attention to what was said.

One day, during a reception, he decided to try an experiment. To each person who passed down the line and shook his hand, he murmured, “I murdered my grandmother this morning.” The guests responded with phrases like, “Marvelous! Keep up the good work. We are proud of you. God bless you, sir.”

It was not till the end of the line, while greeting the ambassador from Bolivia, that his words were actually heard. Nonplussed, the ambassador leaned over and whispered, “I’m sure she had it coming.”

Scripture:

Revelation 2:7

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Story:

3/25–The story is told of a man who made every effort to be a great father to his young son, Billy. He took his son to a carnival with four of his friends.

As any dad would do, he pulled a wad of cash out of his pocket and purchased dozens of tickets for the carnival rides. At every ride, five little hands were thrust into the air to claim the required ticket.

At the end of the day, the father noticed a sixth hand protruding into the air hoping for a ticket. The father asked, “Son, who are you?”

The little fellow replied, “I’m your son’s new friend and I know him. He said that if I know your son, I get a ticket.” Of course, he got a ticket.

Ah – such wisdom.

When you know the Son of the Father, you get whatever the Father has. He has given us eternal life – because we know His Son.

Got your ticket?

Scripture:

Galatians 4:6-7

And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
