Story:

In South Africa diamond miners must search through thousands of tons of dirt to find one precious diamond.

Sometimes we are inclined to search through an entire congregation of diamonds to find a little bit of dirt.

Scripture:

Proverbs 11:13-14

A talebearer revealeth secrets:

but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

Where no counsel is, the people fall:

Can You Spare A Minute 8/17?

If you can’t find two minutes, can you spare just one?

8/17– Can You Spare A Minute

8/17

Two lumberjacks of equal skill, experience, and stature work side by side, chopping down trees together every single day.

However, one lumberjack works non-stop, without taking a break, whereas the other takes an hour-long lunch break every afternoon.

Despite working for less time, both lumberjacks inevitably chop the same number of trees by the end of each working day.

Puzzled and frustrated, the lumberjack who works all day long asks the other how he manages to chop just as much as him while still taking a break.

To this, he responds:

“It’s simple. I spend that hour at home sharpening my axe.”

When You Try To Get Even, You Will Get Hurt

Some people love to get even. Clint Eastwood does it. Rambo did it. On the old television show know as AMOS AND ANDY, Amos was extremely distraught over a guy who kept poking his finger on Amos’ chest every time he spoke to him.

Either too small or too scared to challenge the fellow physically, Amos explained his game plan to Andy in saying, “I’m going to put nitroglycerin on my chest and the next time he pokes at me he will blow his finger off!”

When you try to get even—you get hurt. Relationships are built on the basis of love—which keeps no record of wrongs and forgives!

Think Of Helping People Over Image

I heard of story of a  man  that was so inflexible that he wouldn’t bend for anything or anybody. He was in a boat with another person who fell out of the boat. He could’ve easily reached down and got a hold of that person but it would require him to bend. So for the sake of his image he let the other person perish!

Quote:

Your enemies can never stop you from being blessed by God!

Story:

One day a father and his rich family took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing him how poor people really can be. They spent a day and a night at the farm of a very poor family. When they returned from their trip, the father asked his son, “How was the trip?”

“Very good, Dad!”

“Did you see how poor people can be?” the father asked.

“Yeah!”

“And what did you learn?”

The son replied: “I saw that we have a dog at home, and they have four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of the garden; they have a creek that is two miles long. We have imported lamps in the garden; they have the stars. Our patio reaches to the front yard; they have a whole horizon.” When the little boy finished speaking, his father was speechless. His son added, “Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we are.”

True wealth and riches comes only from Jesus Christ.

Scripture:

1 Timothy 6:6-10

But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Things are not important, but people are!

8/16– Can You Spare A Minute?

8/16–People were created to be loved, things were created to be used. The reason why the world is in chaos is because things are being loved and people are being used.

Things are not important, but people are very important!

The Sports Icon Who Didn’t Make The Team

This Sports Icon Didn’t Make the Team

If there’s one name you would not associate with failure, it’s probably Michael Jordan. But Michael Jordan’s story is one of overcoming, too. His path to success wasn’t easy and straightforward.

I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game-winning shot, and I missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

Michael Jordan

When Michael Jordan’s high school cut him from the basketball team his sophomore year. He worked hard and moved his way up over the years, but he stayed humble. In fact, he attributes his success to failure.

Story:

Two taxidermists stopped before a window in which an owl was on display. They immediately began to criticize the way it was mounted. Its eyes were not natural; its wings were not in proportion with its head; its feathers were not neatly arranged; and its feet could be improved.

When they had finished with their criticism, the old owl turned his head… and winked at them.
