Story:

3/2–A little girl had been told many times by a childless old couple that if she would come and live with them, they would get her everything she wanted-a pony and cart, a piano, and the like.

One day when the couple had been particularly urgent, her father said, “Don’t you think you had better go with them?”

The little girl looked at him in alarm and cried, “Why, Daddy, don’t you want me?” “Yes,” he replied, “but I can’t give you very much, and they will give you everything nice.” “But I wouldn’t have you!” she said as she snuggled up to him.

Scripture:

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Humor:

3/2–The photographer for a national magazine was assigned to get photos of a great forest fire. Smoke at the scene hampered him and he asked his home office to hire a plane.

Arrangements were made and he was told to go at once to a nearby airport, where the plane would be waiting.

When he arrived at the airport, a plane was warming up near the runway. He jumped in with his equipment and yelled, “Let’s go! Let’s go!” The pilot swung the plane into the wind and they soon were in the air. “Fly over the north side of the fire,” yelled the photographer, “and make three or four low level passes.” “Why?” asked the pilot. “Because I’m going to take pictures,” cried the photographer. “I’m a photographer and photographers take pictures!”

After a pause the pilot said, “You mean you’re not the instructor?”

Bitterness Has To Go Or It Can Kill You

Bitterness is one set of thoughts that have got to go,at once.

It does not harm anyone else but you. It is killing you, sapping the life out of you.

It is like having a mouse and buying poison to rid you of the mouse. Instead of giving it to the mouse, you swallow it. You wait for the mouse to die, but the only one dying is you!

Maybe you are at odds with your Father, Son, Brother, best friend! Please don’t wait another day!!

Forgive them, and ask them to do the same for you. Forgive has for-give in it. It is a gift to the other person, and a great gift to yourself.

3/1–Creatures of Custom

As a boy in the Middle West, I used to amuse myself by holding a stick across a gateway that the sheep had to pass through.

After the first few sheep had jumped over the stick, I took it away; but all the other sheep leaped through the gateway over an imaginary barrier.

The only reason for their jumping was that those in front had jumped.

The sheep is not the only animal with that tendency. Almost all of us are prone to do what others are doing, to believe what others are believing, to follow, without question, the testimony of prominent men.

Scripture:

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. 3/1–A GOLF JOKE Pastor Teefer found himself wondering whether there were any golf courses in heaven.

He even began to ask the question in his prayers. One day, in answer to his prayers, he received a direct answer from on high.

Yes,” said the heavenly messenger, “there are many excellent golf courses in heaven. The greens are always in first-class condition, the weather is always perfect, and you always play with the nicest people.”

Oh, thank you,” responded Preacher Teefer. “That really is marvelous news.” “Yes, isn’t it?” replied the messenger. “And we’ve got you down for a foursome next Saturday.”

Love Is The Most Powerful Force

Love–Love is the greatest and most powerful force on earth. It is more powerful than any volcano, earthquake, or tornado. If I have $100 and give you $50, how much do I have left? I have $50 and you have $50. But, if I give you all my love, then you have all that you will or can receive and I still have all the love I originally had (probably more). $10 plus $10 is only $20, but multiplied it becomes $100. Is that not better? Of course it is.
