1/24–How Far You Have Come

Story:

1/24–The north wind and the sun argued which was the stronger. On seeing a traveller they agreed a suitable test would be to strip him of his cloak. First the wind blew with all his might, but the more he blew, the more than man wrapped the cloak tightly around himself. When the sun’s turn came, he gently beamed at the man, who loosened the cloak. The sun shone brighter still, and the man threw off his cloak.

Scripture:

2 Timothy 2:24-26

And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

When Anxiety Knocks, Answer With Hope

Anxiety has a way of showing up uninvited. It knocks on the door of our minds early in the morning, late at night, and sometimes right in the middle of a good day. It whispers “What if?” and shouts “You’re not ready!”

But here’s the truth we need to hear today: anxiety may knock, but it doesn’t have to move in.

Anxiety is often rooted in tomorrow—things that haven’t happened yet and may never happen at all. It feeds on uncertainty and grows when we feel out of control. Yet life was never meant to be lived one fearful step ahead. It was meant to be lived one faithful step at a time.

You Are Not Weak for Feeling Anxious

Feeling anxious does not mean you lack faith, strength, or courage. It means you are human. Even strong, faithful people experience anxious moments. What matters is not that anxiety shows up—but what we do when it does.

Instead of fighting anxiety with panic, we can face it with perspective.

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”

— 1 Peter 5:7

Notice that verse doesn’t say some of your anxiety. It says all of it. Big worries. Small worries. The ones you can explain—and the ones you can’t.

Anxiety Shrinks When Gratitude Speaks

One powerful way to quiet anxiety is to shift focus. When anxiety speaks loudly, gratitude speaks louder. Take a moment to name what is good, what is stable, and what is still standing in your life. Anxiety loses strength when we remind ourselves that we’ve been through hard things before—and we’re still here.

You may not have control over everything, but you do have control over where you place your trust.

Today Is Enough

You don’t have to solve next week today. You don’t have to carry tomorrow’s weight on today’s shoulders. Grace is given daily, not all at once.

Jesus said:

“Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

— Matthew 6:34

That means today is enough. Your strength is enough. God’s help is enough.

A Gentle Reminder for Today

If anxiety has been heavy on your heart, pause and breathe. You are not behind. You are not failing. You are not forgotten. You are still moving forward—even if it’s slowly.

So when anxiety knocks today, don’t answer it with fear.

Answer it with faith.

Answer it with prayer.

Answer it with hope.

And remember: peace isn’t the absence of problems—it’s the presence of trust.

You’ve got this… and you’re not walking alone.

1/23–Church Signs:

CHOOSE PRAYER OVER WORRY! It WORKS!

Story:

A college student was in a philosophy class which had a discussion about God’s existence. The professor presented the following logic: “Has anyone in this class heard God?” Nobody spoke. “Has anyone in this class touched God?” Again, nobody spoke. “Has anyone in this class seen God?” When nobody spoke for the third time, he simply stated, “Then there is no God.”

One student thought for a second, and then asked for permission to reply. Curious to hear this bold student’s response, the professor granted it, and the student stood up and asked the following questions of his classmates: “Has anyone in this class heard our professor’s brain?” Silence. “Has anyone in this class touched our professor’s brain?” Absolute silence. “Has anyone in this class seen our professor’s brain?”

Scripture:

Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

The photographer for a national magazine was assigned to get photos of a great forest fire. Smoke at the scene hampered him and he asked his home office to hire a plane. Arrangements were made and he was told to go at once to a nearby airport, where the plane would be waiting. When he arrived at the airport, a plane was warming up near the runway. He jumped in with his equipment and yelled, “Let’s go! Let’s go!” The pilot swung the plane into the wind and they soon were in the air. “Fly over the north side of the fire,” yelled the photographer, “and make three or four low level passes.” “Why?” asked the pilot. “Because I’m going to take pictures,” cried the photographer. “I’m a photographer and photographers take pictures!” After a pause the pilot said, “You mean you’re not the instructor?”

Friendship Is A Great Gift

Friendship is one of God’s quiet miracles. It doesn’t always arrive with fireworks or fanfare, but it shows up faithfully—often right when we need it most.

A true friend is someone who sees you as you are, understands where you’ve been, and still chooses to walk beside you. Friendship isn’t built on convenience; it’s built on commitment. It’s staying when it would be easier to leave. It’s listening when talking would be simpler. It’s loving without keeping score.

In today’s fast-paced world, friendships can sometimes feel rushed or shallow. But real friendship takes time. It grows through shared laughter, honest conversations, and even difficult seasons. Some of the strongest bonds are formed not on the mountaintops, but in the valleys—when a friend prays with you, says your name when you’re too tired to speak, or simply sits with you in silence.

The Bible reminds us of this powerful truth:

“A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” (Proverbs 17:17)

Friendship isn’t about having a crowd around you; it’s about having the right people with you. One loyal friend can be more valuable than a room full of acquaintances. And sometimes, the greatest act of friendship is being one—reaching out, forgiving quickly, encouraging often, and loving sincerely.

Today, take a moment to thank God for the friends who have stood by you. And if you know someone who could use a word of encouragement, be the friend you’d want in their place. A simple call, text, or prayer can mean more than you’ll ever know.

Friendship is a gift—cherish it, protect it, and pass it on.

Can You Spare A Minute Or So 1/22?

A Chinese boy who wanted to learn about jade went to study with a talented old teacher. This gentle man put a piece of the precious stone into his hand and told him to hold it tight.

Then he began to talk of philosophy, men, women, the sun and almost everything under it. After an hour he took back the stone and sent the boy home.

The procedure was repeated for several weeks. The boy became frustrated. When would he be told about the jade? He was too polite, however, to question the wisdom of his venerable teacher. Then one day, when the old man put a stone into his hands, the boy cried out instinctively, ‘That’s not jade!’”

We Have To Have The Unity Of Psalms 133

A SONG OF DEGREES OF DAVID.
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
for brethren to dwell together in unity!
It is like the precious ointment upon the head,
that ran down upon the beard,
even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion:
for there the LORD commanded the blessing,
even life for evermore.
