The Joy Of Helping Others

There’s a certain kind of joy that money can’t buy and words can’t fully describe. It’s the joy that rises in your heart when you help someone who can’t repay you… when you lift someone who has fallen… when you ease a burden that wasn’t yours to carry. Helping others is not just something we do—it becomes part of who we are.

A Quote to Start Your Day

“We rise by lifting others.” — Robert Ingersoll

In a world where so many are struggling, your small act of kindness may be the very thing that gives someone enough strength to keep going. You never know whose life you are touching.

A Simple Story

A man once stopped to help a stranger on the side of the road who had a flat tire. When he finished, the stranger said, “How can I ever repay you?”

The man smiled and said, “Don’t repay me. Just help someone else when you get the chance.”

Years later, the original helper found himself stranded with a dead battery. A young lady pulled over to help. After getting his car started, he thanked her. She replied,

“Don’t thank me—someone once helped my mother and asked her to pass it on. I’m just continuing the chain.”

Kindness travels farther than you think.

Scripture for Strength

Acts 20:35 – “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

God knew what He was saying. When you help someone, something beautiful happens inside you. Joy grows. Peace grows. Purpose grows. Helping others isn’t losing—it’s gaining.

The Power of Joyful Helping

Helping gives your day meaning. It turns ordinary moments into extraordinary ones. It reminds you that God can use anyone—yes, even you—right where you are. It spreads light in places you may never see.

The joy you feel from helping is God’s way of saying, “You’re doing what I made you to do.”

A Clean Joke to Make You Smile

Why was the math book sad?

Because it had too many problems—but helping others solved a few! 😄

Final Thought

Today, look for one small way to help someone. Hold a door. Send a message. Offer encouragement. Say a prayer. You might forget the act tomorrow—but someone else may remember it for the rest of their life.

Helping others doesn’t just change them… it changes you.

Story:

11/14–During World War I a Protestant chaplain with the American troops in Italy became a friend of a local Roman Catholic priest. In time, the chaplain who moved on with his unit was killed.

The priest heard of his death and asked military authorities if the chaplain could be buried in the cemetery behind his church.

Permission was granted. But the priest ran into a problem with his own Catholic Church authorities. They were sympathetic, but they said they could not approve the burial of a non-Catholic in a Catholic cemetery. So the priest buried his friend just outside the cemetery fence.

Years later, a war veteran who knew what had happened returned to Italy and visited the old priest. The first thing he did was ask to see the chaplain’s grave. To his surprise, he found the grave inside the fence. “Ah,” he said, “I see you got permission to move the body.” “No,” said the priest. “They told me where I couldn’t bury the body. But nobody ever told me I couldn’t move the fence.”

Can You Spare A Minute Or So 11/14?

If I should die before I wake. That is a children’s bedtime prayer that I used to say when I was growing up. In turn, I taught it to my children. I believe that in its simplicity, it is one of the greatest of all old time prayers. Next to the Lord’s prayer in Matthew six it is so powerful. I was saying it to my little boy who was about four or five years or so one night. My little girl about two years old was lying in a little bed next to him. She had never acted like she was paying any attention to our nightly ritual. That night as I started to leave the room she indicated she wanted to repeat her prayers. I began with now to lay me down to sleep. I would pause and she would repeat what I just said. Then we got down to the part where we said if I should die before I awake. She didn’t repeat that line but opened her eyes and said what? I really didn’t know how to respond but I managed to say never mind I’ll tell you later. How do you explain the concept of death to someone for the first time. I don’t recall how I realized the reality and meaning of death. I took care of the fear of death over forty years ago. I do not fear death today, but I do fear getting to death and have never really lived. I do fear getting to the end of my life and dying with my song, sermon, and love still in me.”

Transform Your Thoughts And You Will Transform Your Life

Romans 12:1,2. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Story:

11/13–80% of the people don’t care if you have a problem, and the other 20% are right tickled about it.

There are 10 commandments, number 11 should be Thou shall not bellyache. 1 Corinthians 10: 10. Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.

Complaints should be at least $ 5 each. I believe a lot of people that complain do so to get attention. That is the wrong way to get attention and the wrong kind of attention. That will get your attention but it won’t be for the right reasons. People won’t think anymore of you… In fact, they will think less…. a lot less!!!

Some people no matter. what you do you couldn’t do everything right so you have to overlook and ignore those people.

A monk joined a monastery and took a vow of silence. After the first 10 years, his superior called him in and gave him an opportunity to speak two words, “Do you have anything to say?” The monk replied, “Food bad.” After another 10 years, the monk again had opportunity to voice his thoughts. He said, “Bed hard.” Another 10 years went by and again he was called in before his superior. When asked if he had anything to say, he responded, “I quit.” His superior said, It doesn’t surprise me a bit. You’ve done nothing but complain ever since you got here.”

A successful person is one that can lay a firm foundation with the bricks that others throw at them!

The Little Boy And The World

A man was babysitting his little boy and he needed to do something so he got a newspaper with the picture of the world on it and tore the newspaper into little pieces and told the little boy to put the world back together. In just a little bit the little boy told his father he was through.

The man couldn’t believe it. He asked him how did you do it so quickly? The little boy said on the other side of the world was a picture of a man.. I put the man together and the world came together too!!

When my Grandson was a little boy he would often ask his Mother “Mama, did you know”, and then finish his sentence with his answer. That particular day his mother, my daughter, seemed to be worried and he asked her “Mama did you know”?

He told her that God had the whole world in His hand! That simple phrase from a child lifted her heart and mind to the level it needed to be at.

You can learn a lot from a child if you will just pay attention!

The Great Importance of Helping Others

Quote:

“We rise by lifting others.” — Robert Ingersoll

Message:

Every act of kindness—no matter how small—creates a ripple that travels far beyond what we can see. Helping others isn’t just about giving money, time, or effort; it’s about sharing hope, encouragement, and love in a world that desperately needs it.

When we reach out to help someone else, something incredible happens inside of us. Our focus shifts from our problems to purpose, from frustration to fulfillment. Life becomes richer when we stop asking, “What’s in it for me?” and start asking, “How can I serve someone today?”

Helping others doesn’t always mean grand gestures. It can be a smile to a stranger, a kind word to someone discouraged, or lending a hand when someone’s struggling. The secret is in the heart behind the help. A small act done with great love can change someone’s entire day—and sometimes their entire life.

When we live to lift others, we find that we, too, are lifted.

Scripture:

“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” — Philippians 2:4 (ESV)

Reflection:

Today, look for someone who needs encouragement—a text, a prayer, a kind word. You may never know how much it means to them, but heaven does.

Clean Humor:

Why did the scarecrow win an award?

Because he was outstanding in his field… helping everyone else grow! 🌾😄

Closing Thought:

When we help others, we’re not just making their lives better—we’re becoming the kind of people God designed us to be. Be the reason someone smiles today!

Take Responsibility Don’t Say It Wasn’t Me

Genesis 3:6-14And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

First the wind blew with all his might, but the more he blew, the more than man wrapped the cloak tightly around himself.

When the sun’s turn came, he gently beamed at the man, who loosened the cloak. The sun shone brighter still, and the man threw off his cloak.
