11/9— Start Your Day Off Right Series

Quote:

11/9–

Story:

11/9–Be yourself, and let others do the same—Don’t put too many requirements on others, especially the requirements you can’t keep yourself.

Experience–We have so many instant products, coffee, oatmeal, etc…..but unfortunately there is no instant experience.

There was a man who was said to be the wisest man in the city. Some young kids decided to pay him a visit and find out why he was the wisest man in the city. He told them it was because he made the right decisions. They asked how it was that he made the right decisions. He replied that it was experience. They wanted to know how he acquired all of his experience. He said it was by making a lot of wrong decisions.

You see there is no short cut to experience. It is not instant and does not come in a simple package. Tolerate mistakes of other people. Allow them to also gain their experience.

He’s not heavy, he’s my brother!— If I want to get to some place, and carry you on my back…..when I get you there I’ll also be there too.

Misery loves company—Some folks feel like the only chance they have in elevating themselves is by putting someone else down. I am happy and I want everyone that will to be happy too. So, happiness should love company too.I don’t want to go many places that when I get there, I will be there by myself.

What to do, when you really don’t know what to do— Try standing still. My grandson that I used to keep sometimes would, somehow, manage to get his shoes off. I could not get them back on him if he was wiggling. After I got him to be still, it was nothing to it. As long as your mind is wiggling, you can get the right thougts in your mind. Be still, be very still and quiet. And when you do get a sense of direction, go slow until you know that all is well.

Have you ever been lost, and didn’t know which way to head. Lost in the woods, or somewhere else. They teach in hunter safety courses that the first thing to do when you are lost is admit you are lost. If you were thinking of looking for the moss growing on the North side of the tree, then think again buffalo breath. A lot of addicts have not, and will may never, admit that they are addicts. Their chance of recovery is not good, no not good at all.

Proverbs 1:2-5

To know wisdom and instruction;

to perceive the words of understanding;

To receive the instruction of wisdom,

justice, and judgment, and equity;

To give subtilty to the simple,

to the young man knowledge and discretion.

A wise man will hear, and will increase learning;

and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

–11/9–Who To Choose On Your Team

A missionary society wrote to David Livingstone and asked, “Have you found a good road to where you are? If so, we want to know how to send other men to join you.” Livingstone wrote back, “If you have men who will come only if they know there is a good road, I don’t want them. I want men who will come if there is no road at all.”

E Good News Broadcaster, April, 1985, p. 12.

Mark 2:2 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. 3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

I want some of those “tear of the roof” guys on my team too!

There Are Benefits in Waiting On The Lord

Sometimes the hardest thing God asks us to do is wait.

We live in a world of instant gratification — instant coffee, instant answers, instant results. But God doesn’t operate on our timetable. His clock runs on eternal time, not earthly time.

The Bible says, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” — Isaiah 40:31.

That verse doesn’t just promise blessings; it promises strength — a deep, renewing strength that only comes when we learn to trust God’s timing.

Waiting isn’t sitting idly by. It’s active faith — praying when you don’t see answers, serving when you don’t see results, believing when you don’t understand the plan. While you’re waiting, God is working behind the scenes, arranging circumstances, preparing people, and shaping you for the blessing He has in store.

Think about Joseph in prison, David before the throne, or Abraham waiting for a son. They all had one thing in common — they waited on the Lord, and when the time came, His promise never failed.

Maybe today you’re waiting on healing, on direction, on a breakthrough, or on peace. Remember: a delay is not a denial. God hasn’t forgotten you. Sometimes the longer the wait, the greater the reward.

So while you wait, keep worshiping. While you wait, keep walking in faith. The waiting room may not be comfortable, but it’s where your spiritual muscles grow.

Because when God finally opens the door, you’ll realize — it was worth the wait.

Quote of the Day:

“Faith is not about everything turning out okay; it’s about being okay no matter how things turn out.”

Scripture: Isaiah 40:31

Beware Of Being Like Baalam And Not Hearing God

And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in the plains of Moab on this side Jordan by Jericho.
And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites. And Moab was sore afraid of the people, because they were many: and Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel. And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now shall this company lick up all that are round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field. And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time. He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me: Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed. And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spake unto him the words of Balak. And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam. And God came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee? And Balaam said unto God, Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, hath sent unto me, saying, Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt, which covereth the face of the earth: come now, curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to overcome them, and drive them out. And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed. And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak, Get you into your land: for the LORD refuseth to give me leave to go with you. And the princes of Moab rose up, and they went unto Balak, and said, Balaam refuseth to come with us.
And Balak sent yet again princes, more, and more honourable than they. And they came to Balaam, and said to him, Thus saith Balak the son of Zippor, Let nothing, I pray thee, hinder thee from coming unto me: For I will promote thee unto very great honour, and I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me: come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people. And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or more. Now therefore, I pray you, tarry ye also here this night, that I may know what the LORD will say unto me more. And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, and go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do. And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab.
And God’s anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him. And the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way. But the angel of the LORD stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side. And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam’s foot against the wall: and he smote her again. And the angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left. And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam’s anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff. And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times? And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee. And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since I was thine unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto thee? And he said, Nay. Then the LORD opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head, and fell flat on his face. And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times? behold, I went out to withstand thee, because thy way is perverse before me: And the ass saw me, and turned from me these three times: unless she had turned from me, surely now also I had slain thee, and saved her alive. And Balaam said unto the angel of the LORD, I have sinned; for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore, if it displease thee, I will get me back again. And the angel of the LORD said unto Balaam, Go with the men: but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.
And when Balak heard that Balaam was come, he went out to meet him unto a city of Moab, which is in the border of Arnon, which is in the utmost coast. And Balak said unto Balaam, Did I not earnestly send unto thee to call thee? wherefore camest thou not unto me? am I not able indeed to promote thee to honour? And Balaam said unto Balak, Lo, I am come unto thee: have I now any power at all to say any thing? the word that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speak. And Balaam went with Balak, and they came unto Kirjathhuzoth. And Balak offered oxen and sheep, and sent to Balaam, and to the princes that were with him. And it came to pass on the morrow, that Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal, that thence he might see the utmost part of the people.

10/28–What Really Matters In Life

Mexican Fisherman Meets Harvard MBA What Really Matters in Life? A vacationing American businessman standing on the pier of a quaint coastal fishing village in southern Mexico watched as a small boat with just one young Mexican fisherman pulled into the dock. Inside the small boat were several large yellowfin tuna. Enjoying the warmth of the early afternoon sun the American complimented the Mexican on the quality of his fish. How long did it take you to catch them?” the American casually asked. Oh, a few hours,” the Mexican fisherman replied.

Why don’t you stay out longer and catch more fish?” the American businessman then asked. The Mexican warmly replied, “With this I have more than enough to support my family’s needs.” The businessman then became serious, “But what do you do with the rest of your time?”

Responding with a smile, the Mexican fisherman answered, “I sleep late, play with my children, watch ballgames, and take siesta with my wife. Sometimes in the evenings I take a stroll into the village to see my friends, play the guitar, sing a few songs…”

The American businessman impatiently interrupted, “Look, I have an MBA from Harvard, and I can help you to be more profitable. You can start by fishing several hours longer every day. You can then sell the extra fish you catch. With the extra money, you can buy a bigger boat. With the additional income that larger boat will bring, before long you can buy a second boat, then a third one, and so on, until you have an entire fleet of fishing boats.” Proud of his own sharp thinking, he excitedly elaborated a grand scheme which could bring even bigger profits, “Then, instead of selling your catch to a middleman you’ll be able to sell your fish directly to the processor, or even open your own cannery. Eventually, you could control the product, processing and distribution. You could leave this tiny coastal village and move to Mexico City, or possibly even Los Angeles or New York City, where you could even further expand your enterprise.

” Having never thought of such things, the Mexican fisherman asked, “But how long will all this take?” After a rapid mental calculation, the Harvard MBA pronounced, “Probably about 15-20 years, maybe less if you work really hard.” And then what, señor?” asked the fisherman. Why, that’s the best part!” answered the businessman with a laugh. “When the time is right, you would sell your company stock to the public and become very rich. You would make millions.”

Millions? Really? What would I do with it all?” asked the young fisherman in disbelief. The businessman boasted, “Then you could happily retire with all the money you’ve made. You could move to a quaint coastal fishing village where you could sleep late, play with your grandchildren, watch ballgames, and take siesta with your wife. You could stroll to the village in the evenings where you could play the guitar and sing with your friends all you want.”

The moral of the story is: Know what really matters in life, and you may find that it is already much closer than you think.

Scripture:

1 Timothy 6:9-10

But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Handling Difficult People

I worked in Customer Service related jobs for 51 years. Somehow, I learned how to deal with difficult customers

The first thing I tried to do was to listen intently. I tried  to understand before I tried to be understand.

I sought to see how they felt ( after all, most are caught up in an emotion).

Even if I knew the solution when they first started their disappointment, this let me know how to frame my solution.

I would tell them about other cases, similar to theirs, where a great solution was found.

I started out working for a company in customer service, where the customer is always right and their satisfaction is not only desired but guaranteed.

You can win the battle with someone but lose the war. A satisfied customer may tell someone, but a disgruntled customer will tell almost everyone who will listen.

I know we are talking customers, but the beauty of it is that it works everywhere. Your spouse, your job, your friends , and many more areas in your life, work the same way!

The Amazing Power Of Encouragement

Encouragement is like sunlight to the soul — it brings warmth, strength, and hope to hearts that are weary and worn. Just a few words spoken in kindness can lift someone’s spirit, renew their courage, and remind them that they’re not alone in the journey of life.

In a world filled with criticism, negativity, and pressure, encouragement is a precious gift that doesn’t cost a thing but can change everything. Sometimes all it takes is a sincere “You can do this,” or “I believe in you,” to help someone keep going when they feel like giving up.

The Bible reminds us in 1 Thessalonians 5:11:

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”

Every day, we have opportunities to be a builder instead of a breaker. You might not realize how much your words matter — but someone around you is depending on them. That co-worker, friend, or family member may be one kind word away from renewed strength.

Encouragement is contagious. When you give it, it often finds its way back to you. The same hand you lift today may be the one that helps lift you tomorrow.

So today, make it your mission to be an encourager. Speak life, not doubt. Offer hope, not fear. Remind others that even the hardest battles can be won with faith, perseverance, and the love of God guiding the way.

And if you’re the one in need of encouragement today — remember this: God sees you, knows your struggle, and has not forgotten you. Keep pressing forward. Your breakthrough may be just beyond the next bend in the road.

💬 Quote for Today:

“A word of encouragement during a failure is worth more than an hour of praise after success.”

😄 Clean Joke:

Why did the scarecrow get promoted?

Because he was outstanding in his field!

🙏 Closing Thought:

Be that person who leaves others better than you found them. Your light might be the only one someone sees today — let it shine brightly.

Not Only Start Well But Finish Strong Too

There’s something powerful about finishing well. Anyone can start strong—full of excitement and determination—but not everyone has the endurance to finish strong. Life, much like a marathon, isn’t about how quickly you start; it’s about how faithfully you finish.

When challenges arise and enthusiasm fades, that’s when true character shows. The middle of the race is where doubts whisper, “You’ve done enough.” But deep inside, the voice of purpose says, “Keep going.”

Paul said it best in 2 Timothy 4:7: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” He didn’t boast about starting the race—he rejoiced in finishing it.

No matter your season, God hasn’t brought you this far to leave you short of the finish line. Maybe you’re tired, maybe it’s been a long road—but remember, the reward isn’t just at the end. The victory is also in the perseverance.

🏁 Finish well.

Finish with faith, finish with integrity, finish with gratitude.

Because how you end something matters just as much—if not more—than how you begin.

Quote of the Day:

“It’s not how you start that matters, but how you finish.” — Unknown

Clean Joke:

Why did the marathon runner bring string to the race?

So he could tie up loose ends at the finish line! 😄

11/7–A champion is defined not by the wins but by how they can recover when they fall

Story:

11/7–A member of a certain Church, who previously had been attending meetings regularly, stopped going.  After a few weeks, an elder decided to visit him.

It was a chilly evening.  The elder found the man at home alone, sitting before a blazing fire.  Guessing the reason for the elder’s visit, the man welcomed him, led him to a big chair near the fireplace and waited.

The elder made himself comfortable but said nothing.  In the grave silence, he contemplated the play of the flames around the burning logs.

After some minutes, the elder took the fire tongs, carefully picked up a brightly burning ember and placed it to one side of the hearth all alone.

Then he sat back in his chair, still silent.  The host watched all this in quiet fascination.  As the one lone ember’s flame diminished, there was a momentary glow and then its fire was no more.  Soon it was cold and “dead as a doornail.”

Not a word had been spoken since the initial greeting.  Just before the elder was ready to leave, he picked up the cold, dead ember and placed it back in the middle of the fire.

Immediately it began to glow once more with the light and warmth of the burning coals around it.  As the elder reached the door to leave, his host said,  “Thank you so much for your visit and especially for the fiery lesson.  I shall be back at the Church next Sunday.”
