10/28–Your Twin Can Help

Story:

From Sister Ramona McLain

“My dad has bees.🐝Today I went to his house and he showed me all of the honey he had gotten from the hives. He took the lid off of a 5 gallon bucket full of honey and on top of the honey there were 3 little bees, struggling. They were covered in sticky honey and drowning. I asked him if we could help them and he said he was sure they wouldn’t survive. Casualties of honey collection I suppose.

I asked him again if we could at least get them out and kill them quickly, after all he was the one who taught me to put a suffering animal (or bug) out of its misery. He finally conceded and scooped the bees out of the bucket. He put them in an empty Chobani yogurt container and put the plastic container outside.

Because he had disrupted the hive with the earlier honey 🍯 collection, there were bees flying all over outside.

We put the 3 little bees in the container on a bench and left them to their fate. My dad called me out a little while later to show me what was happening. These three little bees were surrounded by all of their sisters (all of the bees are females) and they were cleaning the sticky nearly dead bees, helping them to get all of the honey off of their bodies. We came back a short time later and there was only one little bee left in the container. She was still being tended to by her sisters.

When it was time for me to leave we checked one last time and all three of the bees had been cleaned off enough to fly away and the container was empty.

Those three little bees lived because they were surrounded by family and friends who would not give up on them, family and friends who refused to let them drown in their own stickiness and resolved to help until the last little bee could be set free.

Bee Sisters. Bee Peers. Bee Teammates. ❣️

We could all learn a thing or two from these bees. 🐝 🐝 🐝

I did not write this, but love it. Bee kind always.

What Really Matters In Life

Mexican Fisherman Meets Harvard MBA What Really Matters in Life? A vacationing American businessman standing on the pier of a quaint coastal fishing village in southern Mexico watched as a small boat with just one young Mexican fisherman pulled into the dock. Inside the small boat were several large yellowfin tuna. Enjoying the warmth of the early afternoon sun the American complimented the Mexican on the quality of his fish. How long did it take you to catch them?” the American casually asked. Oh, a few hours,” the Mexican fisherman replied.

Why don’t you stay out longer and catch more fish?” the American businessman then asked. The Mexican warmly replied, “With this I have more than enough to support my family’s needs.” The businessman then became serious, “But what do you do with the rest of your time?”

Responding with a smile, the Mexican fisherman answered, “I sleep late, play with my children, watch ballgames, and take siesta with my wife. Sometimes in the evenings I take a stroll into the village to see my friends, play the guitar, sing a few songs…”

The American businessman impatiently interrupted, “Look, I have an MBA from Harvard, and I can help you to be more profitable. You can start by fishing several hours longer every day. You can then sell the extra fish you catch. With the extra money, you can buy a bigger boat. With the additional income that larger boat will bring, before long you can buy a second boat, then a third one, and so on, until you have an entire fleet of fishing boats.” Proud of his own sharp thinking, he excitedly elaborated a grand scheme which could bring even bigger profits, “Then, instead of selling your catch to a middleman you’ll be able to sell your fish directly to the processor, or even open your own cannery. Eventually, you could control the product, processing and distribution. You could leave this tiny coastal village and move to Mexico City, or possibly even Los Angeles or New York City, where you could even further expand your enterprise.

” Having never thought of such things, the Mexican fisherman asked, “But how long will all this take?” After a rapid mental calculation, the Harvard MBA pronounced, “Probably about 15-20 years, maybe less if you work really hard.” And then what, señor?” asked the fisherman. Why, that’s the best part!” answered the businessman with a laugh. “When the time is right, you would sell your company stock to the public and become very rich. You would make millions.”

Millions? Really? What would I do with it all?” asked the young fisherman in disbelief. The businessman boasted, “Then you could happily retire with all the money you’ve made. You could move to a quaint coastal fishing village where you could sleep late, play with your grandchildren, watch ballgames, and take siesta with your wife. You could stroll to the village in the evenings where you could play the guitar and sing with your friends all you want.”

The moral of the story is: Know what really matters in life, and you may find that it is already much closer than you think.

The Quite Power Of Contentment

Key Verse: “I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” — Philippians 4:11

Big Idea: Contentment isn’t getting what you want; it’s recognizing what you already have—and Who holds it all.

A short story

A traveler asked a shepherd, “Are you happy out here with so little?”

The shepherd smiled, “I have shade in summer, stars at night, and the Shepherd of my soul all year. Tell me—what exactly am I missing?”

Sometimes we’re chasing what a quiet heart already owns.

Why contentment matters (today)

It frees your mind from endless “what ifs” so you can focus on “what is.” It strengthens gratitude—and gratitude multiplies joy. It breaks comparison, the thief of peace. It makes generosity easier because you’re not hoarding to feel secure. It builds resilience; content people bend but don’t break.

5 ways to practice contentment today

Name three gifts you already have (health you do have, people who love you, lessons learned). Do one quiet act of service in secret—contentment grows when we give. Limit comparison: take a short social scroll fast. Use the “enough” sentence: “For today, what God has given is enough for what God has asked.” Pray your thanks out loud—gratitude turns what we have into more than enough.

Scriptures to anchor you

1 Timothy 6:6 — “Godliness with contentment is great gain.” Hebrews 13:5 — “Be content with such things as ye have; for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Philippians 4:12–13 — Contentment learned in all conditions, strength supplied by Christ.

A clean smile

I asked my wallet if it was content. It said, “I’m not empty—I’m just practicing minimalism.” 😄

Today’s prayer

“Lord, teach my heart to rest in You. Help me see the gifts already in my hands and trust the plans already in Yours. Replace my hurry with holy peace. Amen.”

There Is Power In Being Diligent

Diligence is more than just hard work—it’s consistent, faithful effort that refuses to quit when things get tough. It’s doing what’s right even when no one is watching, and continuing when others have long since given up. Proverbs 12:24 says, “The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.” That means diligence leads to honor, opportunity, and influence.

Many people start strong, full of excitement and passion. But over time, when results don’t come as quickly as they hoped, they slow down or stop altogether. Diligence is what separates the dreamers from the doers—it’s the fuel that carries you through the dry seasons until the harvest comes.

Think about a farmer. He doesn’t plant one day and reap the next. He prepares, plants, waters, weeds, and waits—sometimes for months—before seeing fruit. But because he stays diligent, the reward is sure to come. The same is true in your spiritual life, your relationships, and your goals. If you stay steady and faithful, your season of reward will arrive in due time.

When you feel weary or tempted to give up, remember Galatians 6:9: “Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Your diligence is not wasted—it’s building something eternal.

So today, keep showing up. Keep working with excellence. Keep trusting that God sees every effort, every act of faithfulness, and every seed you’ve planted. Diligence always pays off—not always immediately, but always eventually.

💡 Thought for Today: “Success doesn’t come from what you do occasionally, but from what you do diligently.”

10/27–Trying win over a critic that can’t be impressed is a bad idea. We have to understand and accept that not everyone is going to like us and not everyone is going to agree with us.

Twenty-Five Percent don’t like us and won’t no matter what we do, 25% don’t like you but could be persuaded to like you, 25% like you but could be persuade to not like you, and 25% will like you and will stand by you no matter what.

Life will get more free when we realize that if one person doesn’t like us, life will go on. I could send them flowers every day for two years and it won’t change anything. I could compliment them every hour and mow their lawn every week and they just choose not to like us. You don’t have to have their approval, their ok to be who God meant for you to be. If you will let that go, God will send you people who not only approve you but will support you fully, and celebrate you.

You don’t have to walk on eggshells, you can relax. Quit wasting your time trying to win somebody over, that not matter what, is not going to be won over.

Some are never going to be your friend. I’m just going to believe and trust God to bring me connections. If someone just will not like you, just think that they don’t know what they are missing.

When you quit worrying about that 25%, then God will start moving the right people in your direction. One reason some people will never accept us is that they are so insecure. They think blowing out your candle will make theirs burn brighter.

They push you down to look bigger. They minimize to equalize. God will bring people that will add value and not diminish. Some people just like to argue and fight. If they are not with you, they are with someone else. They are in the fight mode. Even if you do win over one of your critics, two more will pop up.

The best way to answer one of your critics is not with your words but with your actions. The best way is to let them see the fruit of a well lived life.

Seeking God, Man’s Greatest Pursuit

Key Verse: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” — Matthew 6:33

The Greatest Search of All

We spend our lives searching—searching for peace, purpose, love, and success. But the truth is, everything we really need flows from seeking God first. When we chase the things of this world, we end up empty. When we chase after God, He fills our cup until it overflows.

Seeking God isn’t a one-time act; it’s a daily pursuit. It’s not about finding Him once—it’s about walking with Him continually.

A Short Story

A man once asked an old preacher, “How can I find God?” The preacher led him to a nearby river, took him by surprise, and dunked him underwater for a few seconds. When the man came up gasping for air, the preacher said, “When you seek God with the same intensity that you just sought your next breath, you will find Him.”

That story reminds us: we must desire God more than comfort, convenience, or approval.

How to Seek God Daily

Start Your Day with Him. Before you scroll, before you stress—pray. Even a short “Lord, guide me today” can set the tone for your entire day. Spend Time in His Word. The Bible is not just a book; it’s a living conversation with God. Read a verse and ask, “Lord, what are You saying to me here?” Listen in the Quiet. God often speaks in stillness. Step away from the noise. Let your heart be quiet long enough to hear His whisper. Seek His Will Above Yours. Sometimes seeking God means surrendering what we want. Say, “God, I want what You want—even if it looks different than my plan.” Surround Yourself with Others Who Seek Him. Fellowship fuels faith. Spend time with people who point you toward God, not away from Him.

When God Feels Distant

Even the strongest believers go through seasons when God seems far away. In those times, don’t stop seeking—keep pressing forward. Like the sunrise after the longest night, His presence will break through again. Remember Jeremiah 29:13:

“You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”

A Prayer for Today

“Lord, I want to know You more. Teach me to seek You with my whole heart. Help me not to get distracted by what the world offers but to keep my eyes on You. Let my thoughts, words, and actions lead me closer to You each day. Amen.”

Reflection Questions

What’s one thing that’s been distracting me from seeking God lately? How can I make time every day for prayer or quiet reflection? What might change in my life if I truly put God first?

Today’s Challenge

Take five minutes today to step outside, breathe, and simply say, “Lord, I’m seeking You.” Don’t rush it. Let your heart settle into His peace.

Quote for the Day

“Seek God. You’ll find purpose. Seek purpose. You’ll find peace. Seek peace. You’ll find God was there all along.”

Clean Joke:

Because they were using fowl language! 🐔

10/26– Start Your Day Off Right Series

Quote:

10/26–Be A Reflection

Story:

10/26–Criticizing is a little man’a tactics. It takes a big man to refrain from criticizing. Belittling others shows just how small you and your thinking really are.

I’m not much for bragging or boasting it on myself but I am pretty generous to brag on others.

A big man is not afraid of making others bigger. He doesn’t see it as a threat to his bigness. A big man doesn’t feel like he has to cut you down to make him feel bigger.

When you find the good in people and sincerely complement them you show to me your bigness and your greatness.

Philippians 2: 3-4. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

If I put you higher than me and you put me higher than you then we will be equal! It does nothing for me to see others fail or not do good. It does not add anything to my success or stature. Bringing down others doesn’t lift me up any.

Some people’s whole outlook is trying to find something wrong with someone. They have looked for the wrong so long the good seems to be hid from them. It takes a trained eye to look for the good and be able to spot it. It might take a little practice before you’re able to see the good if you’ve always looked for the bad.

Little minded people major in the minor! They take some little insignificant point and blow it up into something that it is really not.

Some people are merely legends in their own minds. They have nominated themselves and voted for themselves but nobody else paid any attention. Their continual criticizing others is part of them trying to get attention even though they’re going about it the wrong way.
