Don’t Accept Anger From Another

12/18–A tale is told about the Buddha, Gautama (563-483BC), the Indian prince and spiritual leader whose teachings founded Buddhism. This short story illustrates that every one of us has the choice whether or not to take personal offence from another person’s behaviour.

It is said that on an occasion when the Buddha was teaching a group of people, he found himself on the receiving end of a fierce outburst of abuse from a bystander, who was for some reason very angry.

The Buddha listened patiently while the stranger vented his rage, and then the Buddha said to the group and to the stranger, “If someone gives a gift to another person, who then chooses to decline it, tell me, who would then own the gift? The giver or the person who refuses to accept the gift?”

“The giver,” said the group after a little thought. “Any fool can see that,” added the angry stranger.

“Then it follows, does it not,” said the Buddha, “Whenever a person tries to abuse us, or to unload their anger on us, we can each choose to decline or to accept the abuse; whether to make it ours or not. By our personal response to the abuse from another, we can choose who owns and keeps the bad feelings.

Don’t Settle For Less When You Can Have More

A little girl was watching her mother prepare a fish for dinner. Her mother cut the head and tail off the fish and then placed it into a baking pan. The little girl asked her mother why she cut the head and tail off the fish. Her mother thought for a while and then said, “I’ve always done it that way – that’s how babicka (Czech for grandma) did it.”

Not satisfied with the answer, the little girl went to visit her grandma to find out why she cut the head and tail off the fish before baking it.

Grandma thought for a while and replied, “I don’t know. My mother always did it that way.”

So the little girl and the grandma went to visit great grandma to find ask if she knew the answer.

Great grandma thought for a while and said, “Because my baking pan was too small to fit in the whole fish”.

How much more trouble would it have been just to buy a larger pan instead of  settling for less fish? How many times have we compromised ( it settled) and went after the smaller fish in life when it would not have required much more just to have made room for bigger? https://youtu.be/0oWH3t8qwXI

Make up your mind today to not settle for less!

Quote:

12/17–Church Signs:

If you want a BLESSING,

BE A BLESSING!!

Story:

12/17–Father to his son: don’t ever let anybody tell you that you can’t do something…. not even me.

If you have a dream…. you have to protect it! When people can’t do something themselves .. they want to tell you that you can’t do it. If you want something go get it, period.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate but that we are powerful beyond. measure! Is our light not our darkness is that for most frightens us. You’re playing small does not serve the

world there is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won’t feel insecure around you.

We were all meant to shine as children do. It’s not distant some of us it’s in everyone. As we unconsciously let our own light shine we give others permission to do the same as we are liberated from our own fear. Our presence automatically liberates others. In this lifetime, you don’t have to prove anything to nobody except yourself!! You need to keep negotiating with your mind to find more strength…. but you keep going.

Dream big, don’t ever give up. Help other people achieve success and you will be successful! The biggest seller is cookbooks and the second is diet books –how not to eat what you’ve just learned how to cook.

12/17–A rich man was determined to give his mother a birthday present that would outshine all others. He read of a bird that had a vocabulary of 4000 words, could speak in numerous languages and sing 3 operatic arias. He immediately bought the bird for $50,000 and had it delivered to his mother. The next day he phoned to see if she had received the bird. “What did you think of the bird?” he asked.

She replied, “It was delicious.”

Unscrupulous Salesman

An enthusiastic but somewhat unscrupulous salesman was waiting to see the purchasing agent of the engineering firm where my husband worked. The salesman was there to submit his company’s bid, or price quote, for a particular job. He couldn’t help but notice, however, that a competitor’s bid was on the purchasing agent’s desk.

Unfortunately, the actual figure was covered by a can of juice. The temptation to see the amount quoted became too much, so the salesman lifted the can. His heart sank as he watched thousands of BB’s pour from the bottomless can and scatter across the floor.

Scripture:

Psalms 133

A SONG OF DEGREES OF DAVID.

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is

for brethren to dwell together in unity!

It is like the precious ointment upon the head,

that ran down upon the beard,

even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;

As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion:

for there the LORD commanded the blessing,

even life for evermore.

12/16–Can You Spare A Minute?

I dread seeing NFL Mondays. The day after the Sunday game, that’s the talk at work and other places. They all want to tell what they feel the quarterback did wrong. Yet, none of them has ever played a down in the NFL as a quarterback.

Reminds me of people who know how to tell you about making money, but are almost in bankruptcy themselves.

They know how your marriage should be, but their marriage is full of stress and controversy.

Some Problems Are Lulus Of A Problem

I heard a story about a man touring a mental institution. The tour guide told the man that there were five floors there and the further up you went the worse off the patients were.

On the first floor the patients were only mildly ill, but by the time you got to the fifth floor they wee severely ill. On the first floor was a man staring out into space muttering Lulu, Lulu, Lulu. The man touring asked what was wrong. The tour guide said that twenty-five years ago the man was left at the altar by Lulu on their wedding day. The man said that he could understand how that would be hard.

When they finally arrived at the fifth floor that was a man muttering Lulu but more uncontrollable than the first man. The man touring wanted to know what was going on. The tour guide said that twenty-five years ago that man had indeed married Lulu!

No matter how bad you think that you might think you have it someone has it worse. Sometimes what you consider bad can get worse. It rains on the just and unjust. Did you ever think you had it bad until the thing got worse? Then you finally realize that you didn’t have it so bad after all.No matter how bad you may think have it, someone else has it worse, much worse.

You could be griping and then your problem turn out to be a Lulu of a problem. I wouldn’t be brave enough to ask to trade my problem off for fear of getting a worse one that I might not be able to handle.

There are plenty of people who have it worse than you do. Look around and count your blessings. Don’t ever think that you are the only one who has ever had it hard. Plenty of people have had it worse than us and still held their head up high, and won the victory.

You may trade your cross off to discover that your cross was the smallest one they made. I want to glory in tribulation.

What Esther Taught Me About Seeking God

https://youtu.be/84LHAijvZbk?si=TlYlE_bS2tLbGeJx

Esther 4:10-5:2. Again Esther spake unto Hatach, and gave him commandment unto Mordecai; All the king’s servants, and the people of the king’s provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days. And they told to Mordecai Esther’s words. Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king’s house, more than all the Jews. For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer, Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish. So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Esther had commanded him.
Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king’s house, over against the king’s house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house. And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.
