7/31–Start Your Day Off Right Series 7/31/21

Story:

Extracting the precious from the worthless..If you can have and develop this talent in life, you will be a very valuable person.

Jesus told Lazurus to come forth. When others saw something worthless and of no use but to bury, Jesus saw life….precious life. There are plenty of people that have something precious hidden inside that almost no one (including themselves) can see.

Oh, to be able to see and recognize these precious jewels. People that the world has turned its back on . Maybe that person is a teacher or a friend, or whatever relationship.

I knew a man who would talk to me like I was indeed someone special. He wasn’t related, just a friend. He knew how to bring out the best in me. Do you bring out the best in people, or the worst?

There are people, who seemingly, cannot carry on a good conversation, but can sing like angels. There are people we have known, probably for some time, who have a great talent, or story…but we don’t know because we didn’t go deep enough.

We are too concerned about ourselves to find out about others…their needs, talents, and many things they have to contribute.

Heroes who look like ordinary people. There is a hero in every one of us, it just has to be awakened!

Scripture:

Matthew 6:33-34

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Can You Spare A Minute 7/31?

If you can’t find five minutes, can you spare one or two?

My uncle used to say if he couldn’t take it with him he didn’t want to go. The reality is we all are going to die and we can’t take anything with us. Therefore, we have to use it before we die to do anyone any good. Everything in life has an expiration date. Just like the date manufacturers put on all the goods they sell that tells the last date it is safe for us that we should use their product. There is no guarantee for us to use it after that certain date. Similarly, there is a limited time for us to be able to do what we intend to do. So we must get busy to get done the items on our mission statement, and our to do list and our bucket lists. I had a bad heart attack in July, 2012. They said I cheated death and that I was at Death’s door! I was in the hospital for about seven days and four of those I spent in the Critical Care Unit or CCU. You had better believe that I reviewed my life and all the things I should’ve and could’ve done.

I knew that even though I might have cheated Death that Death would be back for me again one day. Having this knowledge, I found it inexcusable that I wouldn’t be ready next time. So that’s what I’m doing at this moment trying to mark off some items. on my bucket list. No one else can do that for you. The responsibility lies in you and in you alone!

You Owe It Yourself And Others To Give 100%

As July comes to a close, let’s pause and reflect on this one powerful truth: Success rarely belongs to the half-hearted.

There’s something magnetic about people who give 100%—not just when it’s easy, but when it’s hard, inconvenient, or when no one is watching. That’s when character is formed. That’s when greatness is born.

You might not always feel like giving your best. You may be tired, discouraged, or wondering if your effort even matters. But it does. Whether you’re sweeping floors, leading a team, parenting a child, or chasing a dream—your 100% effort is planting seeds you’ll harvest tomorrow.

Colossians 3:23 reminds us, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” That means our 100% is not about perfection—it’s about purpose. It’s not about applause—it’s about integrity.

Giving 100% doesn’t mean being perfect. It means showing up with all you’ve got, trusting God to make up the difference. It’s not about what you have—it’s about what you do with what you have.

So today, let’s finish this month strong. Push a little harder. Love a little deeper. Serve a little more selflessly.

Give it 100%—because you don’t know how close you are to your breakthrough.

Closing Thought:

Whatever your hands find to do today—do it with passion, purpose, and full commitment. Let July 31 be the day you refused to hold back.

You’ve got more in you. Now go prove it.

The Mighty Awesome Power Of Virtue

In a world that often praises success at any cost, virtue may seem like an old-fashioned word—dusty and outdated. But in truth, virtue is the quiet force that builds unshakable character, long-lasting influence, and deep inner peace.

Virtue means living with integrity when no one’s watching. It’s the courage to speak truth even when it’s unpopular. It’s patience in the face of frustration, humility in the spotlight, and compassion when you’ve been wronged.

Proverbs 31:10 says, “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.” Virtue isn’t cheap—it’s rare, precious, and powerful.

When you choose virtue:

You may not always get applause, but you gain respect. You may not take the easiest road, but you’ll sleep with peace at night. You may be tested, but you’ll never be without purpose.

Every day, you’re faced with choices that shape your legacy. Choose kindness over cruelty. Honesty over convenience. Faith over fear. These small decisions are what make a life truly great.

Today, let your actions be governed by virtue—not pressure, not popularity, not pride. Because in the end, the greatest success is not what you have, but who you’ve become.

Quote of the Day:

“Virtue is not left to stand alone. He who practices it will have neighbors.” — Confucius

Challenge:

Pick one virtue—like patience, integrity, or gratitude—and practice it intentionally today. Watch how it changes not just your actions, but your atmosphere.

Can You Spare A Minute Or So 7/30?

If you can’t find five minutes, can you spare one or two?

7/30–Can You Spare A Minute?

What we cannot do alone – we can do together.

More than 350 people of the tiny town of Stromsburg, Neb., formed a human chain to transfer thousands of books from the town’s old library to its new one.

Residents stood shoulder-to-shoulder to pass sacks containing a few books each to the new facility, a distance of a few blocks.

Most of the old library’s contents were trucked over in advance, but city leaders wanted to involve the community.

“There were people of all ages passing those books,” said Mayor Elaine Westring. “They will always remember this day.”

Sounds like a church, doesn’t it? Together, we pass along the gospel one person at a time.

You Could Be Big, But You Let Little Get Hold Of You

You have to forgive be to be big!

Mt 6:9-15 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Story:

In an engine-room it is impossible to look into the great boiler and see how much water it contains.  But running up beside it is a tiny glass tube, which serves as a gauge.  As the water stands in the little tube, so it stands in the great boiler.

When the tube is half full, the boiler is  half full; when the tube is empty the boiler is empty.

Do you ask. How do I know I love God?  I believe I love Him, but I want to know.  Look at the gauge.  Your love for your brother is the measure of your love for God.

Scripture:

Romans 8:35-39

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

If an airline closes that the pilot was good on takeoffs, but was not good at landings would you be anxious to get on board?

I read this somewhere and it’s true. How many before getting on a plane asked to see the pilots credentials? Never saw him before but trust him with your life! We trust not only pilots but surgeons and many other people, yet we struggle with trusting God!
