Make Up Your Mind To Not Settle For Less

A little girl was watching her mother prepare a fish for dinner. Her mother cut the head and tail off the fish and then placed it into a baking pan. The little girl asked her mother why she cut the head and tail off the fish. Her mother thought for a while and then said, “I’ve always done it that way – that’s how babicka (Czech for grandma) did it.”

Not satisfied with the answer, the little girl went to visit her grandma to find out why she cut the head and tail off the fish before baking it.

Grandma thought for a while and replied, “I don’t know. My mother always did it that way.”

So the little girl and the grandma went to visit great grandma to find ask if she knew the answer.

Great grandma thought for a while and said, “Because my baking pan was too small to fit in the whole fish”.

How much more trouble would it have been just to buy a larger pan instead of settling for less fish? How many times have we compromised ( it settled) and went after the smaller fish in life when it would not have required much more just to have made room for bigger?

Make up your mind today to not settle for less!

Start Your Day Off Right Series 5/12

5/12–Start Your Day Off Right Series

Quote:

5/12–Giving

Story:

I read the following poem once that I would like to share with you. I’m sorry I do not know the author to credit.

Opportunities Missed:1There was a very cautious man Who never laughed or played; He never risked, he never tried, He never sang or prayed. And when he one day passed away His insurance was denied; For since he never really lived, They claimed he never died!

How many reading this go through life playing defense? They are so afraid of making a mistake they don’t try anything. I say go for it because you never know until you try. I say play offense because life will only give back to you in proportion to that which have put in.

Scripture:

Philippians 4:8

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Can You Spare A Minute Or So 5/12?

If you can’t find five minutes, can you spare two or three?

5/12–Can You Spare A Minute?

5/12–My uncle used to say if he couldn’t take it with him he didn’t want to go. The reality is we all are going to die and we can’t take anything with us. Therefore, we have to use it before we die to do anyone any good. Everything in life has an expiration date. Just like the date manufacturers put on all the goods they sell that tells the last date it is safe for us that we should use their product. There is no guarantee for us to use it after that certain date. Similarly, there is a limited time for us to be able to do what we intend to do. So we must get busy to get done the items on our mission statement, and our to do list and our bucket lists. I had a bad heart attack in July, 2012. They said I cheated death and that I was at Death’s door! I was in the hospital for about seven days and four of those I spent in the Critical Care Unit or CCU. You had better believe that I reviewed my life and all the things I should’ve and could’ve done.

I knew that even though I might have cheated Death that Death would be back for me again one day. Having this knowledge, I found it inexcusable that I wouldn’t be ready next time. So that’s what I’m doing at this moment trying to mark off some items on my bucket list. No one else can do that for you. The responsibility lies in you and in you alone!

If God Woke You Up, You Have More To Do

There are people who would like to finish college and obtain their degree, but think they are too old because they are forty.

They will make a statement that they will be almost forty-five by the time they finish.

Well, I want to know how old they will be in five years if they don’t get their degree?

The very fact that woke you up this morning means God is not through with you yet!

The Story Of Why Number Six Stood At Attention

A group of appreciative tourists watched a demonstration put on by the Royal Artillery of the Queen.

The six man team worked with flawless precision. Actually, only five of them worked with precision. One of the soldiers positioned himself about 25 yards away from the cannon and stood at attention during the entire exhibition, doing nothing.

After the exhibition, one of the tourists asked the staff officer to explain the duty of the man standing off to the side.

“He’s number six,” came the reply. “Yes, but what does he do?” “He stands at attention.” “Yes, I know, but why does he stand at attention?” No one knew why number six stood at attention. None of the other five knew, the man himself didn’t know, and even the commanding officer didn’t know.

After many hours of research through old training manuals, it became clear what number six was to do. He was to hold the horses. Why was number six standing at attention? Because he was appointed to do so. Did he have any idea what he was supposed to do? No.

5/11–Start Your Day Off Right Series

Quote:

5/11–God Is Always With You

Story:

Many people have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification, but through fidelity to a worthy purpose”–Helen Keller.

There is a deep-seated need in all of us to sense purpose—even out of calamity. Jesus knew who He was.

The Lord wants to help you realize who you are and what you are graced to do. To ask someone to define you without first knowing the answer yourself is dangerous. When you understand that He is the only One who really knows you, then you pursue Him with fierceness and determination. Pursue Him! God knows who we are and how we are to attain our calling. This knowledge, locked up in the counsel of God’s omniscience, is the basis of our pursuit, and it is the release of that knowledge that brings immediate transformation.

He knows the hope or the goal of our calling. He is not far removed from us; He reveals Himself to people who seek Him. The finders are seekers. The door is opened only to the knockers and the gifts are given to the askers! (See Luke 11: 9.) Initiation is our responsibility.

Whosoever hungers and thirsts shall be filled. The structure of an army was just waiting for God’s command. God will not put His seal of approval on something until He is sure that it is His. God can fill your past, your childhood, your feelings of inferiority, your wounds, your loneliness. God sees incredible potential in you. The Word of God says you are capable. Within you is an army To reach for your full potential, focus on your areas of competence, have the courage to take action despite obstacles, and strive to improve continually by passionately pursuing a dream. What one great thing with you dare to dream if you knew that you could not fail? If you could wave a magic wand or take a magic pill what one thing would you desire?

Scripture:

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

If you can’t find five minutes, can you spare two or three?

5/11– Can You Spare A Minute?

Bottled water, a concept I thought was utterly ridiculous when I first heard about.  Never happen, I thought.  Why should I buy something coming out at my sink freely? But it did happen, and is happening.  I buy it and people all over the world do.

Has satan ever presented a thought to you and you thought, never happen….but it did. People have married and never thought trouble would come to their home, but satan worked his way in.He can even take the ridiculous and make it seem like that’s the way it is supposed to be.

Churches split when harmony and unity flowed like nothing could ever stop it.  Satan is pictured in red suit, with horns, and a tail and a pitchfork.  No, my friend, he is the slickest, smothest salesman of all time!
