The Benefits Of Hearing

We live in a noisy world. Voices are everywhere. Television speaks. Social media speaks. Opinions speak. Fear speaks. Doubt speaks. Everyone seems to have something to say. But in all the noise of life, one question remains: What are you listening to?

Hearing is more than sound entering our ears. What we hear eventually finds its way into our minds, and what enters our minds often settles into our hearts. The words we allow ourselves to hear can either lift us up or pull us down.

Negative words have a way of lingering. If someone tells you long enough that you’re not good enough, you’ll eventually start believing it. But encouraging words can breathe life into a weary soul. A simple “You can do this” or “I believe in you” can change someone’s whole day.

Spiritually, hearing is even more important. God often speaks in a still, small voice. Sometimes we’re so busy talking, worrying, and rushing that we miss what He is trying to tell us. We hear the world’s noise but miss Heaven’s whisper.

The Bible says in Romans 10:17, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Faith grows when we hear truth. Strength grows when we hear God’s promises. Hope grows when we listen to His voice above every other voice.

Today, take inventory of what you’re hearing. Are you listening to discouragement or hope? Fear or faith? Negativity or truth?

You can’t always control what people say around you, but you can choose what voice receives your attention.

Remember: The ears are gateways to the heart. Be careful what you allow through them.

Thought for today: Listen closely. Sometimes the answer you’ve been praying for isn’t coming through the noise—it’s waiting in the quiet.
