Virtue is a word we do not hear as often today, but its value has never changed. Virtue is moral excellence. It is choosing what is right when wrong would be easier. It is honesty when no one is watching, kindness when no one is applauding, and integrity when compromise seems more convenient.
The Bible gives virtue a place of great importance. In 2 Peter 1:5 it says: “And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge.” Virtue is not just something we admire in others; it is something we should intentionally build in our own lives.
When Jesus spoke in Luke 8:46, He said, “Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.” There was power, goodness, and divine strength flowing from Him. Virtue has influence. It affects those around us. A life filled with virtue leaves fingerprints on other people.
We live in a world that often rewards shortcuts and celebrates image over character. But true strength is found in doing right. Virtue is developed one decision at a time. Every time you choose patience over anger, truth over deception, forgiveness over bitterness, and faith over fear, you are building a life of virtue.
Your character is one of the greatest sermons you will ever preach. People may forget your words, but they will remember your example.
Today, choose virtue. Stand for what is right. Live with integrity. Walk with character. In a world full of compromise, be a person whose life quietly shines.
Thought for the day: Virtue is not built in a moment—it is built in the choices we make every day.
