Overcoming Jealousy Is Not Easy, But So Important

Jealousy is a thief. It sneaks into our hearts quietly and begins stealing our joy, our peace, and our contentment. It causes us to look at someone else’s blessings while overlooking the many blessings God has already placed in our own lives.

Have you ever caught yourself wondering, “Why are they getting ahead?” or “Why do they have what I wish I had?” You’re not alone. Jealousy is a struggle as old as humanity itself. Cain became jealous of Abel. Joseph’s brothers became jealous of him. Even today, social media and comparison can feed feelings of envy if we are not careful.

The problem with jealousy is that it keeps our eyes fixed on someone else’s lane instead of focusing on our own journey. God never intended for us to compete with one another. He created each of us with unique gifts, unique callings, and unique timing.

Galatians 6:4 says: “But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.”

When jealousy knocks on your heart’s door, answer it with gratitude. Count your blessings. Celebrate the success of others. Remember this: someone else’s victory does not mean your defeat. God has enough blessings for everyone.

Your season is coming. Your opportunity is coming. Your answer is coming. You do not have to resent another person’s harvest when God is still working your field.

Today, choose gratitude over comparison, contentment over envy, and faith over frustration.

Motivational Thought for May 25:
“Don’t waste your energy watching someone else’s path—God is still writing your story.”
