A few words of encouragement from you today could awaken greatness in someone tomorrow. You may be standing beside a person who is one opportunity, one prayer, one compliment, or one act of kindness away from becoming everything God intended them to be.
We live in a world where many people walk around carrying hidden gifts, untapped talents, and unrealized dreams. The sad truth is that many never reach their potential—not because they lack ability, but because they lack someone who believes in them.
Have you ever noticed how a seed can sit dormant until the right conditions awaken it? People are often the same way. Sometimes all they need is a little sunlight from a kind word, a little water from encouragement, and a little care from someone willing to invest in them.
Barnabas in the Bible was known as the “son of encouragement.” When others doubted people, Barnabas saw possibility. He helped lift others, strengthen others, and bring out the best in them. Because of his influence, lives were changed and ministries were strengthened.
You never know what your support can do. A teacher may inspire a future leader. A parent may raise a world changer. A friend may keep someone from giving up. A simple conversation may alter the direction of someone’s life forever.
Too often people focus only on reaching their own goals, climbing their own ladder, and chasing their own success. But some of life’s greatest blessings come from helping someone else climb.
Don’t just ask, “How high can I go?” Ask, “Who can I help rise with me?”
Today, look for potential in people. Speak life into someone. Encourage the discouraged. Lift the weary. Believe in someone who has stopped believing in themselves.
Because sometimes the greatest thing you will ever become is the person who helped someone else become who they were meant to be.
“Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Thought for today:
Helping others reach their potential doesn’t diminish your light—it multiplies it.
