“To obey is better than sacrifice.” — 1 Samuel 15:22
Obedience is not always easy. In fact, some of life’s greatest battles are fought between what we want to do and what we know we ought to do. Yet throughout Scripture and throughout life, we find that blessings often follow obedience.
Obedience is an expression of trust. When we obey God, even when we don’t fully understand His plan, we are saying, “Lord, I trust Your wisdom more than my own.” Noah obeyed and built an ark before there was any sign of rain. Abraham obeyed and left his homeland without knowing where he was going. Their obedience opened the door to God’s extraordinary work.
The same principle applies in everyday life. Success often comes to those who consistently obey the small disciplines of life—showing up on time, keeping commitments, telling the truth, treating others with kindness, and doing what is right when no one is watching.
Many people are waiting for great opportunities while overlooking the simple acts of obedience that are right in front of them. The path to greater things is often paved with faithful obedience in the little things.
Today, ask yourself: What is one thing I know I should do but have been putting off? It may be making a phone call, offering forgiveness, starting a project, or taking a step of faith. Obedience may feel difficult in the moment, but it often brings peace, growth, and blessing in the days ahead.
Remember, obedience is not about perfection; it is about willingness. God can do remarkable things with a heart that is willing to follow Him.
Today’s Challenge: Identify one area where you know the right thing to do and take action on it today. Don’t wait for a better time or better circumstances. Obey the next step God has placed before you.
Prayer: Lord, give me a willing heart to obey You. Help me trust Your guidance even when I cannot see the whole picture. Strengthen me to do what is right and to walk faithfully in the path You have set before me. Amen.
