“Yesterday is a great teacher, but a terrible place to live.”
The excitement of yesterday may be over. The celebrations have ended, the crowds have gone home, and life returns to its normal rhythm. But today is not just the day after—it is the first day of a brand-new opportunity.
Too many people spend today looking backward. They replay yesterday’s failures, missed opportunities, or even yesterday’s victories. While it’s good to learn from the past, we were never meant to live there.
God gives us today for a reason.
If yesterday brought disappointment, don’t carry it into today. If yesterday brought success, don’t become satisfied with it. Every sunrise is God’s reminder that His mercies are new every morning and that He still has a purpose for your life.
The people who accomplish great things are not always the most talented. Often, they are simply the ones who keep moving forward. They refuse to let regret chain them to the past or comfort keep them from growing.
Today, choose to take one more step. Encourage one more person. Offer one more prayer. Show one more act of kindness. Those small steps, repeated day after day, become a life that honors God and blesses others.
Don’t waste today’s blessings by staring at yesterday’s memories.
“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.” — Philippians 3:13
Today is a gift. Open it with gratitude, live it with purpose, and trust God with tomorrow.
