Be The Friend That You’d Like To Have

“A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” — Proverbs 17:17

Everyone enjoys having a good friend, but today, ask yourself a different question: Am I being one?

A genuine friend celebrates another’s victories without jealousy, listens without rushing to judge, encourages without expecting anything in return, and remains loyal when life becomes difficult. Fair-weather friends disappear when the storms come, but godly friends stay and help carry the burden.

Someone in your life may be fighting a battle they haven’t shared with anyone. A phone call, a handwritten note, a kind word, or simply being present could become the encouragement they desperately need. Small acts of friendship often leave lasting impressions.

Jesus gave us the perfect example of friendship. He walked with His disciples, taught them, corrected them in love, prayed for them, and ultimately laid down His life for them. He said, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).

Today, don’t wait for someone else to make the first move. Reach out. Forgive quickly. Encourage freely. Listen carefully. Love sincerely. You may never know how much your friendship means to someone who needs hope.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the friends You have placed in my life. Help me to be faithful, encouraging, compassionate, and loyal. Use me today to brighten someone’s path and to reflect the love of Christ through my actions. Make me the kind of friend who points others closer to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thought for the Day:
A true friend doesn’t just walk beside you in the sunshine—they stay with you through the storm.
