Be A Help, Not A Hinderance

One of the greatest compliments anyone can receive is simply this: “You were a help to me.”

We sometimes think helping others requires doing something big. But often, the greatest help comes through the smallest things—a kind word, a listening ear, an encouraging phone call, a helping hand, or simply being there when someone is going through a difficult time.

Every day, we encounter people carrying burdens we know nothing about. Someone may be smiling on the outside while struggling on the inside. Your encouragement could be exactly what they need to keep going.

The Bible reminds us in Galatians 6:2:

“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.”

Being a help means asking ourselves, “What can I do today to make someone else’s load a little lighter?”

Maybe you can encourage someone who feels discouraged. Maybe you can help someone with a task they cannot handle alone. Maybe you can pray for someone who is hurting. Sometimes the greatest help is simply giving someone your time and letting them know, “You don’t have to face this alone.”

There are two kinds of people we can choose to be: those who make the journey harder and those who make the journey easier. Choose to be the person who helps.

You may never know how much your kindness meant. You may never hear a thank-you. But that doesn’t make your help any less valuable. God sees every act of kindness done from a sincere heart.

Thought for Today

Don’t just look for someone to help you today. Look for someone you can help.

A helping hand can lift a burden.
An encouraging word can restore hope.
A little kindness can change someone’s entire day.

Be a help. Be an encourager. Be someone who makes life a little better because you were there.
