Keep Your Eye On The Goal

“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 3:14

It’s easy to start with a goal. The challenge is keeping your eyes on it when life gets difficult.

There will always be distractions. There will be setbacks, disappointments, criticism, and days when you wonder whether all your effort is worth it. But remember this: you don’t have to see the finish line to keep moving toward it.

Think about a runner in a race. He doesn’t win by constantly looking behind him. He keeps his eyes ahead. Looking backward can slow you down. Looking at everyone around you can discourage you. But keeping your eyes on the goal gives you direction.

The same is true in life.

Maybe you haven’t accomplished everything you hoped you would by now. That doesn’t mean you’ve failed. You’re still in the race.

Don’t allow yesterday’s mistakes to distract you from tomorrow’s possibilities. Don’t let someone else’s success make you question your own journey. God has given you your own race to run, your own purpose to fulfill, and your own finish line to reach.

Paul said, “I press toward the mark.” The word press reminds us that reaching worthwhile goals often requires effort. Sometimes you have to keep going when you’re tired. Sometimes you have to believe when you can’t see much progress. Sometimes you simply have to take one more step.

So today, remind yourself why you started.

Keep praying.
Keep believing.
Keep working.
Keep moving forward.

You may not be where you want to be, but you’re closer than you were yesterday.

TODAY’S THOUGHT

Don’t let temporary distractions cause you to abandon a permanent purpose. Keep your eye on the goal, keep moving forward, and trust God with every step.

You’ve come too far to quit now!
