There are times in life when moving forward doesn’t look very impressive.
Sometimes moving forward means taking a giant leap. Other times, it means taking one small step when you really don’t feel like taking any step at all.
But a small step forward is still FORWARD!
We often become discouraged because we compare where we are with where we thought we would be. We look at how far we still have to go instead of remembering how far we have already come.
Maybe life hasn’t gone according to your plans. Maybe you have experienced sickness, disappointment, loss, setbacks, or circumstances you never expected.
But remember this:
A setback does not have to become a stopping place.
You may have to slow down.
You may have to change your plans.
You may even have to ask someone to help you along the way.
But you can still keep moving forward!
The Apostle Paul said:
“Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark…” — Philippians 3:13–14
Paul understood something important. You cannot change yesterday, but you can do something with TODAY!
Don’t spend all of today regretting yesterday or worrying about tomorrow.
Do what you can TODAY!
If you can take ten steps, take ten.
If you can only take one, take one.
If all you can do today is refuse to give up, then DON’T GIVE UP!
Progress isn’t always fast. Sometimes progress is slow, painful, and difficult to see. But just because you’re moving slowly doesn’t mean you’re going in the wrong direction.
KEEP GOING!
There may be something wonderful waiting just beyond the place where you were tempted to quit.
So this September 15, lift your head, strengthen your faith, and remind yourself:
I’M STILL HERE! I’M STILL TRYING! GOD IS STILL WITH ME! AND I’M STILL MOVING FORWARD!
You don’t have to finish the journey today.
You just need to take the next step.
KEEP MOVING FORWARD!
