Sometimes the distance between where you are and where you want to be can seem overwhelming. You may look at the road ahead and wonder, “How am I ever going to make it?”
But you don’t have to travel the whole road today.
You just need to take one more step.
One more step when you’re tired.
One more step when progress seems slow.
One more step when somebody tells you it can’t be done.
One more step when yesterday didn’t turn out the way you hoped.
We often underestimate what God can accomplish through small acts of faithfulness. Noah built the ark one piece at a time. David faced Goliath with what he had in his hand. The Israelites marched around Jericho one lap at a time.
Great victories often begin with ordinary steps of obedience.
The Bible says:
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” — Psalm 37:23
Notice it says steps. Life isn’t usually lived in giant leaps. It’s lived one decision, one prayer, one act of kindness, and one faithful step at a time.
Maybe you’ve had some setbacks lately. Perhaps life has knocked you down, changed your plans, or made the journey harder than you expected.
Getting knocked down doesn’t mean your journey is over.
Get back up. Take the Lord’s hand. Do what you can today, and don’t worry about doing tomorrow’s work yet.
You may not be moving as quickly as you once did. You may have to take a different road than you planned. But slow progress is still progress.
So on this September 26, don’t become discouraged because you can’t see the finish line.
Just ask yourself:
“What is the next step God wants me to take?”
Then take it.
And tomorrow, take another.
One day you may look back and discover that all those little steps carried you farther than you ever imagined.
Thought for Today
You don’t have to finish the journey today. You just have to be faithful enough to take one more step.
Prayer
Lord, when the road becomes difficult, give me the strength to keep going. Help me not to become discouraged by how far I still have to travel. Guide my steps, strengthen my faith, and remind me that I never walk alone. Help me take one more step today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Keep going. Keep believing. Keep stepping forward. Your journey isn’t finished yet!
