We live in a world that wants everything right now. We want quick answers, quick results, and quick solutions. But some of the greatest things in life simply cannot be rushed.
Patience is not doing nothing. Patience is continuing to do the right thing while you wait for the right results.
A farmer doesn’t plant a seed today and dig it up tomorrow to see if it is growing. He plants it, tends it, waters it, and waits. He understands that growth takes time.
The same is true in our lives.
Sometimes we become discouraged because we haven’t seen the results we expected. We may have prayed about something for months or even years. We may be working toward a goal and wonder if we’re ever going to reach it. We may be waiting for circumstances to change, a relationship to improve, or a door to open.
Don’t let impatience cause you to quit just before the breakthrough comes.
The Bible reminds us in Galatians 6:9:
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
Notice those words: “in due season.”
Not necessarily our season. Not necessarily according to our timetable. But there is a proper time for the harvest.
Patience also matters when dealing with people. Everyone doesn’t think like we do, move at our speed, or see things from our perspective. Sometimes the greatest gift we can give another person is a little patience.
Before becoming angry, be patient.
Before speaking harshly, be patient.
Before giving up on somebody, be patient.
And when you’re tempted to give up on yourself, be patient there too. You’re still learning. You’re still growing. You’re still becoming.
Remember this today:
A delay is not always a denial. Waiting is not always wasted time. And slow progress is still progress.
Keep doing what’s right. Keep believing. Keep working. Keep praying. Keep moving forward—even if you’re only taking one small step at a time.
Good things often take time, and patience gives them the time they need to grow.
Thought for Today
“Patience is having faith enough to keep going while you are still waiting to see the results.”
