We Must Learn To Overcome Obstacles

Have you ever started toward a goal only to discover something standing in your way?

We all face obstacles. Some are small inconveniences, while others seem like mountains. They may come in the form of disappointment, failure, sickness, financial difficulty, criticism, or circumstances we never expected.

But remember this:

An obstacle doesn’t necessarily mean you’re on the wrong road. Sometimes it simply means you have something to overcome.

Think about a river. When it encounters a rock, it doesn’t quit flowing. It finds a way around it, over it, or eventually through it.

We need that same determination.

When something stands between you and your goal, don’t immediately say, “I can’t.” Instead ask, “What can I do?”

You may have to change your approach. You may have to slow down. You may even have to ask someone for help. But slowing down is not the same as giving up.

The Bible says in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

God never promised us a life without difficulties, but He did promise that we would not have to face them alone.

Some of the strongest people you will ever meet became strong because they had obstacles to overcome. Their difficulties taught them patience. Their failures taught them wisdom. Their disappointments taught them perseverance. And their struggles taught them to trust God.

Maybe there is an obstacle in front of you today.

Don’t let what is in front of you make you forget Who is beside you.

Take the next step.

Then take another.

You may not overcome your mountain in one day, but every step forward is another step toward victory.

Thought for Today

Obstacles are not always stop signs. Sometimes they are opportunities to discover just how determined, resourceful, and strong you can become—with God’s help.
