The Power Of Persistence

Have you ever noticed that some of the most successful people in life are not necessarily the smartest, the strongest, or the most talented? Many times, they’re simply the ones who refused to give up!

There’s something powerful about a person who has made up their mind that no matter how difficult the road becomes, they’re going to keep moving forward.

That quality is called PERSISTENCE!

Persistence means continuing when things get difficult. It means getting back up when life knocks you down. It means refusing to allow temporary setbacks to become permanent defeats.

The Bible tells us in Galatians 6:9, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

What a tremendous promise!

Notice those last three words: “If we faint not.”

In other words, don’t give up! Don’t quit just because things haven’t worked out the way you expected. Don’t allow discouragement to convince you that your efforts have been wasted.

Sometimes the greatest victories come after the most difficult struggles.

Think about a farmer planting his crops. He doesn’t plant the seed today and expect a harvest tomorrow. He understands that growth takes time. He continues working, watering, and caring for what he has planted, even when he cannot see anything happening beneath the surface.

Life works much the same way!

Just because you cannot see progress doesn’t mean progress isn’t being made.

Sometimes you’re growing stronger while you’re waiting. Sometimes you’re learning valuable lessons through your difficulties. And sometimes God is preparing you for something greater than you ever imagined.

One of the biggest mistakes we can make is quitting simply because success doesn’t come as quickly as we expected.

Remember, a setback is not the same thing as a defeat, and a delay is not the same thing as a denial.

You may have stumbled yesterday, but that doesn’t mean you cannot stand today.

You may have failed at something the first time, but that doesn’t mean you cannot succeed the next time.

You may have encountered obstacles along the way, but obstacles don’t necessarily mean you’ve reached the end of the road.

Sometimes they simply mean you need to find another way forward.

I believe one of the greatest lessons we can learn is this:

You don’t have to move fast to make progress. You just have to keep moving in the right direction!

There will be days when you feel strong and confident. There will also be days when you feel tired, discouraged, and uncertain.

But don’t allow how you feel on a difficult day to determine what you do with the rest of your life.

Rest when you need to. Ask for help when you need it. Change your approach when necessary. But don’t surrender a worthwhile goal simply because the journey has become difficult.

The Bible reminds us in James 1:12, “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.”

There is something to be said for endurance, determination, and faithfulness.

So, whatever challenge you’re facing today, remember that your present circumstances do not have to determine your final outcome.

Keep believing. Keep trying. Keep praying. And keep trusting God to guide your steps.

My Thought for Today

Persistence doesn’t mean you’ll never fall. It means you’ve made up your mind that falling will not be the end of your story!
