“How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation…”
One of the greatest dangers in the Christian life is not always turning away from God suddenly, but slowly drifting away from Him through neglect.
Think about that for a moment!
Most people don’t wake up one morning and decide they no longer need God. Instead, they gradually become so busy with the cares of this world that they begin putting spiritual things on the back burner.
They neglect prayer. They neglect reading God’s Word. They neglect attending church. And before they realize it, the things of God that once meant so much to them have become less important.
THE DANGER OF NEGLECT!
You don’t have to deliberately destroy something for it to fall apart. Sometimes all you have to do is neglect it!
A beautiful garden will eventually become overgrown with weeds if nobody tends to it. A house will deteriorate if nobody maintains it. And our spiritual lives can grow cold when we fail to nurture our relationship with God.
The same principle applies to our walk with Christ.
Salvation is too precious to take for granted!
Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price for our salvation. He suffered, bled, and died on Calvary so that we might have eternal life.
What an incredible gift!
Yet how often do we allow temporary things to take priority over eternal things?
We find time for television, social media, hobbies, and countless other activities, but sometimes struggle to find a few minutes to spend with the One who gave His life for us.
DON’T LET THE URGENT REPLACE THE IMPORTANT!
Life has a way of keeping us busy. There are bills to pay, responsibilities to fulfill, and problems to solve.
But remember this: Everything in this world is temporary, while our relationship with God has eternal significance.
Jesus asked a powerful question in Mark 8:36:
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
That’s a question every one of us should seriously consider.
What good is worldly success if we neglect the most important thing in life?
IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO DRAW CLOSER TO GOD!
Perhaps you’ve become spiritually distracted. Maybe your prayer life isn’t what it once was. Maybe the joy and excitement you once experienced in serving the Lord have faded.
Here’s some good news!
You can begin drawing closer to God today!
James 4:8 reminds us:
“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.”
You don’t have to wait until tomorrow. You don’t have to wait until Sunday. Right now, wherever you are, you can turn your heart toward the Lord.
Begin praying again. Open your Bible. Renew your commitment to serving Christ. Make Him the priority of your life.
