Beware Of Catching An Attitude Virus

In his book Understanding Business Values and Motivators, Dr. Ira Wolfe writes, “An ‘Attitude Virus’ seems to be everywhere…. We see the symptoms every day as rudeness, poor service, lack of motivation, and increased job stress….

Managers “feel the painful, long-term effects of the Virus in employee turnover, lost productivity, customer complaints, and a drain on profits. But the greatest damage the Virus does is lowering workplace resistance to other ‘infections’ and causing healthy workers to seek escape to more healthy business environments.”

Dr. Wolfe notes that the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine has diagnosed a workplace condition called “presenteeism”—being “at work” without being productive. “It’s like absenteeism, but worse,” he says, “because, with presenteeism, employees still show up and receive a full paycheck—but they disrupt and demoralize other workers while neglecting the work they are being paid to do. The cost of “presenteeism’ in the U.S. alone is estimated to be hundreds of billions of dollars, resulting in over 2.5 billion lost workdays per year.”

God Hates Sowing Discord, But Loves Unity

These six things doth the LORD hate:
yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
A proud look, a lying tongue,
and hands that shed innocent blood,
An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations,
feet that be swift in running to mischief,
A false witness that speaketh lies,
and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Don’t Be Where Your Image Comes Before Helping Someone

I heard of story of a  man  that was so inflexible that he wouldn’t bend for anything or anybody. He was in a boat with another person who fell out of the boat. He could’ve easily reached down and got a hold of that person but it would require him to bend. So for the sake of his image he let the other person perish!

Quote:

1/8–Encouragement

Story:

1/8–Buster and His Friends A traveler drove his car into a ditch near a farm. The farmer who had seen the car, came with his horse to help pull the car out of the ditch. The horse’s name was Buster. He hitched the horse up to the car and shouted, “Let’s go Bonnie! Pull!” The horse didn’t move. The farmer then yelled, “Let’s go Kiko! Pull!” Again, the horse didn’t move. Once more the farmer shouted “Let’s go Rudy! Pull!” Nothing happened. Then the farmer said, “Let’s go Buster! Pull!” And the horse moved and dragged the vehicle out of the ditch. The man thanked the farmer, but being very curious he said “You called your horse three times by the wrong name. Why did you do that?” The farmer laughed and said, “Oh, Buster is a blind old horse. If he thought he was the only one pulling, he wouldn’t even try!”” from “Storytelling: 99 Inspiring Stories for Presentations: Inspire your Audience & Get your Message Through (Storytelling, inspirational stories & presentation zen,mentoring 101,ted talks)” by Barry Powell

Humor:

1/8—Three pastors got together for coffee one day and found all their churches had bat-infestation problems. “I got so mad,” said one, “I took a shotgun and fired at them. It made holes in the ceiling, but did nothing to the bats.” “I tried trapping them alive,” said the second. “Then I drove 50 miles before releasing them, but they beat me back to the church.” “I haven’t had any more problems,” said the third. “What did you do?” asked the others, amazed. “I simply baptized and confirmed them,” he replied. “I haven’t seen them since.”

The Story Of Moses And Purpose

Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

You Don’t Have To Exaggerate How Important You Are

How much are you worth?

Paul Harvey tells the story of a young rookie lawyer who was sitting in his new office waiting for his first client. When he heard the outer door open, he quickly tried to sound very busy.

 As the man entered the office, the young lawyer picked up the telephone and said, “Bill, I’m flying to New York on the Mitchell Brothers thing; it looks like it’s going to be a biggie. Also, we’ll need to bring Carl in from Houston on the Cimarron Case. By the way, Al Cunningham and Pete Finch want to come in with me as partners. Bill, you’ll have to excuse me, somebody just came in…”

He hung up and turned to the man who had just entered and said, “How may I help you?”

The man said, “I’m here to hook up the phone!”

We do not have to exaggerate our supposed talents or abilities to be acceptable to Jesus.

He loves us anyhow.

Start Your Day Off Right Series 1/7

Here is some food for your Daily Bread!

1/7– Start Your Day Off Right Series

Quote:

1/7–Your life is shaped by the doors you walk through and those you walk past.

Story:

 1/7–A little boy was overheard talking to himself as he strode through his backyard, baseball cap in place and toting ball and bat. “I’m the greatest baseball player in the world,” he said with pride. Then he tossed the ball in the air, swung and missed. Undaunted, he picked up the ball; he threw it into the air and said to himself, “Yes, I’m the greatest player ever!” He swung at the ball again. Again, he missed. He paused a moment to examine bat and ball carefully. Then once again he threw the ball into the air and said, “I’m the greatest baseball player who ever lived.” He swung the bat hard and again missed the ball. “Wow!” he exclaimed. “What a pitcher!””

Scripture:

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Humor:

1/7–I was admiring my aunt’s necklace when she surprised me by announcing, “I’m leaving it to you in my will.” I was overjoyed, perhaps too much. “Oh!” I shouted. “I’m looking forward to that!” —Mona Randem

You Can’t Be A Chicken And Fly Like An Eagle

Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard,
that the everlasting God, the LORD,
the Creator of the ends of the earth,
fainteth not, neither is weary?
there is no searching of his understanding.
He giveth power to the faint;
and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
and the young men shall utterly fall:
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles;
they shall run, and not be weary;
and they shall walk, and not faint.
