2/28—Start Your Day Off Right Series

Quote:

2/28

From: Brother Jerome Dean

Quote: We are all great in our own mind!

Story:

2/28–Called! Held! Kept!

Frances Havergal, the songwriter, lived and moved in the Word of God. His Word was her constant companion.

On the last day of her life, she asked a friend to read to her the forty second chapter of Isaiah. When the friend read the sixth verse, “I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee,”

Miss Havergal stopped her. She whispered, “Called-held-kept. I can go home on that!” And she did go home on that. She found His promises unfailing.

Scripture:

Isaiah 42:6

I the LORD have called thee in righteousness,

and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee,

and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;

Build Others Up But Don’t Tear Down

Words are powerful.

They can build bridges…

Or they can burn them.

They can lift someone toward their purpose…

Or push them toward discouragement.

Today’s reminder is simple but life-changing:

Choose to build people up instead of tearing them down.

🧱 Everyone Is Fighting Something

You never really know what someone else is carrying.

That coworker who seems distracted.

That cashier who doesn’t smile much.

That friend who hasn’t returned your call.

Behind every face is a story.

Behind every attitude is a struggle.

Before we criticize, judge, or make a cutting remark, we should pause and ask:

What if they’re doing the best they can right now?

Encouragement costs nothing — but it can change everything.

📖 A Biblical Principle

Ephesians 4:29 says:

“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.”

The word edifying literally means “to build up.”

Every conversation is an opportunity to either construct something strong — or chip away at someone’s confidence.

We are called to be builders.

🔨 Tearing Down Is Easy

Anyone can criticize.

Anyone can gossip.

Anyone can point out flaws.

It takes no strength to tear something down.

But it takes character to build.

It takes maturity to speak life.

It takes wisdom to pause before reacting.

It takes love to correct without crushing.

Strong people don’t tear others down to feel taller.

They build others up — and stand tall together.

❤️ The Ripple Effect of Encouragement

One compliment can spark confidence.

One word of belief can awaken potential.

One moment of grace can restore a broken spirit.

You may never fully know the impact your words have.

But heaven keeps record of every seed of kindness.

And seeds grow.

🔥 Today’s Challenge – February 28

Before this day ends:

Compliment someone sincerely. Speak positively about someone who isn’t in the room. Refuse to participate in gossip. Send a message telling someone you believe in them.

Be intentional.

Be uplifting.

Be a builder.

Because the world has enough critics.

What it needs is encouragers.

2/27–Don’t let fear and pain stop you from reaching your fullest potential. Pain is temporary. Quitting lasts forever.

Story:

2/27–How To Get To The Next Level

  :,.

Here are three things that just about anyone can do if they are looking to develop a new skill, improve on  an existent talent,  or compete  and perform at  a higher level.

  1. Seek Out Challenges. The  kind of growth and development you want exists only in that area just  beyond your comfort zone.  It is not so far out there that you’ll never succeed but close enough to the edge of what you know is possible to ignite  your creativity in interest. You must take a chance and possibly fail so you can learn something , pick yourself up and try again.
  2. Practice with intention.  It doesn’t matter how long you practice something if you’re not 100% present and focused on what you are doing . This means limiting distractions, phone, music, food, guests—that shift your attention away from the task at hand.
  3. Manage your time according to research world class  violinists practice in chunks of time that lasts from 60 to 90 minutes.  The same is true for many  elite athletes.  After 90 minutes of deliberate practice where one

is focused entirely on their own craft or  sport, the mind  will eventually begin  to wander and the body will succumb to fatigue. Depending on what you are engaged in, a rest from six minutes to half an hour would be enough to recharge most people.

Scripture:

Ephesians 5:14-16

Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Humor:

2/27–I was shopping in the pet section of my local supermarket when I overheard a woman singing the praises of a particular water bowl to her husband. “Look, it even has a water filter!” she concluded, holding the doggie dish out for her husband’s inspection. He had a slightly different take on things: “Dear, he drinks out of the toilet.”

The Importance Of Helping Others

There is something powerful about helping someone else.

Not for recognition.

Not for applause.

Not for a pat on the back.

Just because it’s right.

In a world where many people are focused on “What’s in it for me?” — the greatest impact is often made by those who quietly ask, “How can I help?”

💡 Helping Others Lifts You Too

It’s a beautiful truth: when you lift someone else, you rise too.

You may not have a million dollars.

You may not have a big platform.

But you have something someone needs:

A kind word A listening ear A small act of service A prayer A smile

Never underestimate the ripple effect of one small act of kindness.

One encouraging word can stop someone from giving up.

One thoughtful gesture can restore someone’s hope.

One act of generosity can change someone’s entire week.

📖 A Simple Biblical Principle

Galatians 6:2 says,

“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”

Helping others isn’t just a good idea — it’s part of our calling.

We weren’t created to walk alone. We were created to walk together.

When you help carry someone’s burden, you remind them they’re not alone in the fight.

❤️ The Hidden Blessing

Here’s the secret most people miss:

Helping others heals parts of you too.

When you focus only on your own problems, they feel heavier.

When you begin to serve someone else, perspective shifts.

Your heart softens.

Your gratitude grows.

Your purpose deepens.

And suddenly, what felt overwhelming becomes manageable.

🔥 Today’s Challenge (February 27)

Before this day ends:

Send a text encouraging someone. Pray for someone by name. Hold the door. Make a phone call. Offer to help without being asked.

It doesn’t have to be big.

It just has to be real.

2/26–Start Your Day Off Right Series

Quote:

2/26–Sometimes when you’re in a dark place you think you have been buried, but actually you’ve been planted.

Story:

2/26-Death Is Not Necessarily Loss

A little girl whose baby brother had just died asked her mother where Baby had gone. “To be with Jesus,” replied the mother.

A few days later, talking to a friend, the mother said, “I am so grieved to have lost my baby.”

The little girl heard her, and remembering what her mother had told her, looked up into her face and asked, “Mother, is a thing lost when you know where it is?” “No, of course not.” “Well, then how can Baby be lost when he has gone to be with Jesus?” Her mother never forgot this. It was the truth.

Scripture:

2 Samuel 12:18-23

And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spake unto him, and he would not hearken unto our voice: how will he then vex himself, if we tell him that the child is dead? But when David saw that his servants whispered, David perceived that the child was dead: therefore David said unto his servants, Is the child dead? And they said, He is dead. Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed himself, and changed his apparel, and came into the house of the LORD, and worshipped: then he came to his own house; and when he required, they set bread before him, and he did eat. Then said his servants unto him, What thing is this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weep for the child, while it was alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread. And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live? But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.

Humor:

2/26–Our daughter was working as a telemarketer for a home-security firm. Once while she was reciting all the benefits of the system to a potential customer, he interrupted her and said, “We don’t need it because we have a big dog.” “That’s great,” my daughter replied. “But can he dial 911?”
