Quote:

5/30–Don’t Take Things For Granted

Story:

There was a farmer who sold a pound of butter to the baker. One day, the baker decided to weigh the butter to see if he was getting a pound and he found that he was not. This angered him and he took the farmer to court.

The judge asked the farmer if he was using any measure. The farmer replied, you see Your Honour, I am primitive. I don’t have a proper measure, but I do have a scale. The judge asked, Then how do you weigh the butter?

The farmer replied, Your Honour since long before the baker started buying butter from me, I have been buying a pound of bread from him. Everyday, when the baker brings the bread, I put it on the scale and give him the same weight in butter. If anyone is to be blamed, it is the baker.

The moral of the story: We get back in life what we give to others. Whenever you take an action, ask yourself this question: am I giving fair value for the wages or money I hope to make? Honesty and dishonesty become a habit. Some people practise dishonesty and can lie with a straight face. Others lie so much that they don’t even know what the truth is any more. But who are they deceiving? Themselves more than anyone else. Honesty can be put across gently. Some people take pride in being brutally honest and, in the process, hurt others. It seems they get a bigger kick out of the brutality than the honesty. The choice of words and tact are important while expressing the truth.

Scripture:

Deuteronomy 25:13

Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, a great and a small.

5/30–Buster and His Friends A traveler drove his car into a ditch near a farm. The farmer who had seen the car, came with his horse to help pull the car out of the ditch. The horse’s name was Buster. He hitched the horse up to the car and shouted, “Let’s go Bonnie! Pull!” The horse didn’t move. The farmer then yelled, “Let’s go Kiko! Pull!” Again, the horse didn’t move. Once more the farmer shouted “Let’s go Rudy! Pull!” Nothing happened. Then the farmer said, “Let’s go Buster! Pull!”

And the horse moved and dragged the vehicle out of the ditch. The man thanked the farmer, but being very curious he said “You called your horse three times by the wrong name. Why did you do that?”

The farmer laughed and said, “Oh, Buster is a blind old horse. If he thought he was the only one pullling, he wouldn’t even try!”

Don’t Fill Up On Junk

Filling up on Junk—

Filling up on junk– If I am coming home to a good home cooked meal, how hungry will I be if I stop off at a convenience stop and have a soft drink, chips, and a candy bar?

Probably not very hungry at all. That’s why we can’t learn some of the good things of life, we are too full of the trivial, meaningless things to get to absorb the better.

I’m like a dried old sponge, ready to soak it up. If a sponge is so dry that it is brittle and ready for the garbage, just a little water can bring it back to life.

Story:

Farther to his son: don’t ever let anybody tell you that you can’t do something…. not even me.

If you have a dream…. you having fun e to protect it! When people can’t do something themselves .. they want to tell you that you can’t do it. If you want something go get it, period.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate but that we are powerful beyond. measure! Is our light not our darkness is that for most frightens us. You’re playing small does not serve the

world there is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won’t feel insecure around you.

We were all meant to shine as children do. It’s not distant some of us it’s in everyone. As we unconsciously let our own light shine we give others permission to do the same as we are liberated from our own fear. Our presence automatically liberates others. In this lifetime, you don’t have to prove anything to nobody except yourself!! You need to keep negotiating with your mind to find more strength…. but you keep going.

Dream big, don’t ever give up. Help other people achieve success and you will be successful! The biggest seller is cookbooks and the second is diet books –how not to eat what you’ve just learned how to cook.

Scripture:

Matthew 5:16

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

5/28–In your season, God seasons you and, give you a flavor that attracts attention. This is your season and period of attraction!

Story:

A man was babysitting a little boy and he needed to do something so he got a newspaper with the picture of the world on it and tore the newspaper into little pieces and told the little boy to put the world back together. In just a little bit the little boy told his father he was through. The man couldn’t believe it. He asked him how did you do it so quickly? The little boy said on the other side of the world was a picture of a man.. I put the man together and the world came together too!!

When my Grandson was a little boy he would often ask his Mother “Mama, did you know”, and then finish his sentence with his answer. That particular day his mother, my daughter, seemed to be worried and he asked her “Mama did you know”?

He told her that God had the whole world in His hand! That simple phrase from a child lifted her heart and mind to the level it needed to be at.

You can learn a lot from a child if you will just pay attention!

Scripture:

1 Corinthians 14:20

Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.

5/28– Can You Spare A Minute?

There was a man who seemed stingy to everybody who knew him.

He would be very scrupulous about how he spent even a nickel or a dime, so that he was greatly ridiculed.

Finally it became known that he had an invalid wife and an invalid child for whom he cared, and they needed the very last penny that he could save to keep them alive. The criticism of outsiders now turned to admiration for him.

Because we are unable to know everything about a man, we cannot possibly judge him rightly.

Don’t Let Life Get You Down

A little boy was overheard talking to himself as he strode through his backyard, baseball cap in place and toting ball and bat.

“I’m the greatest baseball player in the world,” he said with pride. Then he tossed the ball in the air, swung and missed. Undaunted, he picked up the ball; he threw it into the air and said to himself, “Yes, I’m the greatest player ever!” He swung at the ball again. Again, he missed. He paused a moment to examine bat and ball carefully. Then once again he threw the ball into the air and said, “I’m the greatest baseball player who ever lived.” He swung the bat hard and again missed the ball. “Wow!” he exclaimed. “What a pitcher!””

5/27–Be With Those That Build You Up

Story:

There was once a man and woman who had been married for more than 60 years. They had shared everything. They had talked about everything. They had kept no secrets from each other except that the little old woman had a shoe box in the top of her closet that she had cautioned her husband never to open or ask her about. For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but one day the little old woman got very sick and the doctor said she would not recover.

In trying to sort out their affairs, the little old man took down the shoe box and took it to his wife’s bedside. She agreed that it was time that he should know what was in the box. When he opened it, he found two crocheted doilies and a stack of money totaling $25,000. He asked her about the contents. “When we were to be married,” she said, “My grandmother told me the secret of a happy marriage was to never argue. She told me that if I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet and crochet a doily.”

The little old man was so moved, he had to fight back tears. Only two precious doilies were in the box. She had only been angry with him two times in all those years of living and loving. He almost burst with happiness. “Honey,” he said, “that explains the doilies, but what about all of this money? Where did it come from?” “Oh,” she said, “that’s the money I made from selling the doilies.”

Scripture:

Proverbs 9:8-10

Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee:

rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser:

teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom:

and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Opportunities Missed

There was a very cautious man

Who never laughed or played;

He never risked, he never tried,

He never sang or prayed.

And when he one day passed away

His insurance was denied;

For since he never really lived,

They claimed he never died!

The richest place in the world is the cemetery. It is richer than Fort Knox! There are apologies never made, Love never expressed,  songs never sung, and sermons never preached. Don’t die with your song still within you!!!

I’m not afraid of dying… only to die before I’ve ever lived!
