Be Careful, Your Temper Can Leave Scars

A young man with a very bad temper received about a thousand nails from his father. The father told his son that every time he felt rage, he should take a deep breath and hammer a nail into the fence.

On the first day, the boy pushed 39 nails into the fence. The following days, he pushed about 30 nails each time. And as the days went by, he realized punching through the fence took time and effort.

Because he didn’t want to keep doing this anymore, the young man strategized. He decided to do his best to control his temper. So day after day, the number of nails he had to hammer slowly decreased.

Not long after, the day came when he didn’t get an urge to use any nails. That moment, it dawned on him that he can already control his temper. With this exciting news, he rushed to his father. His father was proud of him.

Then the father took the young man to see the fence where the nails were hammered. And he left him with an important lesson:

It’s important to control your temper and find a solution to make it go away. Like the nails you hammered into the fence, your anger will always be there. And the more frequently you get angry, the more scars you leave.”

Are You Giving Such As You Have?

God Wants 100%

Acts 3:1-6

Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

Can You Spare A Minute 7/21?

If you can’t find two minutes, can you spare just one?

7/21– Can You Spare A Minute?

My uncle used to say if he couldn’t take it with him he didn’t want to go. The reality is we all are going to die and we can’t take anything with us. Therefore, we have to use it before we die to do anyone any good. Everything in life has an expiration date. Just like the date manufacturers put on all the goods they sell that tells the last date it is safe for us that we should use their product. There is no guarantee for us to use it after that certain date. Similarly, there is a limited time for us to be able to do what we intend to do. So we must get busy to get done the items on our mission statement, and our to do list and our bucket lists. I had a bad heart attack in July, 2012. They said I cheated death and that I was at Death’s door! I was in the hospital for about seven days and four of those I spent in the Critical Care Unit or CCU. You had better believe that I reviewed my life and all the things I should’ve and could’ve done.

I knew that even though I might have cheated Death that Death would be back for me again one day. Having this knowledge, I found it inexcusable that I wouldn’t be ready next time. So that’s what I’m doing at this moment trying to mark off some items. on my bucket list. No one else can do that for you. The responsibility lies in you and in you alone!

Story:

There was a farmer who sold a pound of butter to the baker. One day, the baker decided to weigh the butter to see if he was getting a pound and he found that he was not. This angered him and he took the farmer to court.

The judge asked the farmer if he was using any measure. The farmer replied, you see Your Honour, I am primitive. I don’t have a proper measure, but I do have a scale. The judge asked, Then how do you weigh the butter?

The farmer replied, Your Honour since long before the baker started buying butter from me, I have been buying a pound of bread from him. Everyday, when the baker brings the bread, I put it on the scale and give him the same weight in butter. If anyone is to be blamed, it is the baker.

The moral of the story: We get back in life what we give to others. Whenever you take an action, ask yourself this question: am I giving fair value for the wages or money I hope to make? Honesty and dishonesty become a habit.

Some people practise dishonesty and can lie with a straight face. Others lie so much that they don’t even know what the truth is any more. But who are they deceiving?

Themselves more than anyone else. Honesty can be put across gently. Some people take pride in being brutally honest and, in the process, hurt others. It seems they get a bigger kick out of the brutality than the honesty. The choice of words and tact are important while expressing the truth.

God Hates When Someone Sows Discord

youtube.com/watch

God hates discord!

Proverbs 6:16-19

These six things doth the LORD hate:

yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

A proud look, a lying tongue,

and hands that shed innocent blood,

An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations,

feet that be swift in running to mischief,

A false witness that speaketh lies,

and he that soweth discord among brethren.
