You Can Still Make A Difference

Sometimes we look at where we are in life and wonder, “Can I still make a difference?”

Maybe you’re older than you used to be. Maybe your health isn’t what it once was. Perhaps some doors have closed, circumstances have changed, or you simply don’t have the strength and energy you once had.

But never make the mistake of believing that because you can’t do everything you once did, you can’t do something that matters today.

You can still encourage someone.

You can still make a phone call.

You can still pray for someone who is struggling.

You can still share something you’ve learned through the years.

You can still tell someone, “I believe in you.”

You can still smile at a stranger, thank someone who has helped you, forgive someone who hurt you, and remind somebody who feels forgotten that they are important.

Sometimes the greatest difference we make isn’t through something big. It’s through the small things we do consistently.

The Bible says:

“As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men.” — Galatians 6:10

Notice those words: “as we have opportunity.”

God doesn’t ask us to do what we cannot do. He asks us to be faithful with the opportunities that are still in front of us.

Don’t spend so much time thinking about what you used to be able to do that you overlook what you can do today.

Your experience matters.

Your words matter.

Your kindness matters.

Your prayers matter.

Your life still matters.

Someone may need exactly what you have to offer today. One encouraging word could keep someone from giving up. One act of kindness could restore someone’s faith in people. One prayer could touch a life in ways you may never know.

So, on this September 19, don’t ask, “Can I still make a difference?”

Instead ask:

“Whose life can I make a little better today?”

Then look for the opportunity—and take it.

Because as long as God gives you another day, you still have something to give, someone to encourage, and a difference to make.

Thought for Today

You don’t have to change the whole world. Just make a difference in the little part of the world God places in front of you today.
