Make Sure You Speak The Right Words

Have you ever stopped to think about how powerful your words really are?

A few words can change somebody’s entire day. You can say something that gives a discouraged person enough strength to keep going—or something that makes their burden even heavier.

That’s why we need to make sure we speak the right words.

The Bible says in Proverbs 16:24, “Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.”

Before you speak today, ask yourself:

Will my words help or hurt? Will they encourage or discourage? Will they build someone up or tear someone down?

You never know what another person may be going through. The person who smiles at you may be fighting a battle you know nothing about. Your simple words—“I believe in you,” “I appreciate you,” “You’re doing a good job,” or “I’m praying for you”—may be exactly what they need to hear.

And remember, once words leave our mouths, we cannot take them back. We can apologize, but we cannot unsay them.

So today, don’t just speak because you have something to say. Speak because you have something worth saying.

Use your words to encourage someone. Use them to give hope. Use them to bring peace. Use them to remind somebody that they matter.

You may never know how much difference one kind sentence can make in another person’s life.

Today’s thought:
Speak words that leave people stronger than you found them.
