9/2—Start Your Day Off Right

Quotes:

Sometimes a quote doesn’t say everything.

But it says enough to trigger the reader’s mind.

Story:

Handling Difficult People

I worked in Customer Service related jobs for 51 years. Somehow, I learned how to deal with difficult customers

The first thing I tried to do was to listen intently. I tried to understand before I tried to be understand.

I sought to see how they felt ( after all, most are caught up in an emotion).

Even if I knew the solution when they first started their disappointment, this let me know how to frame my solution.

I would tell them about other cases, similar to theirs, where a great solution was found.

I started out working for a company in customer service, where the customer is always right and their satisfaction is not only desired but guaranteed.

You can win the battle with someone but lose the war. A satisfied customer may tell someone, but a disgruntled customer will tell almost everyone who will listen.

I know we are talking customers, but the beauty of it is that it works everywhere. Your spouse, your job, your friends , and many more areas in your life, work the same way!

Scripture:

Proverbs 15:1-2

A soft answer turneth away wrath:

but grievous words stir up anger.

The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright:

but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.

Humor:

I was admiring my aunt’s necklace when she surprised me by announcing, “I’m leaving it to you in my will.” I was overjoyed, perhaps too much. “Oh!” I shouted. “I’m looking forward to that!” —Mona Randem

If you can’t find two minutes, can you spare just one?

9/2– Can You Spare A Minute?

A man is talking to God.

“God, how long is a million years?” God answers,

“To me, it’s about a minute.”

“God, how much is a million dollars?”

“To me, it’s a penny.”p

“God, may I have a penny?”

“Wait a minute.” God says,

The Woman Who Wanted To Buried With A Fork!

There was a woman who said she wanted to be buried with a Bible in her right hand and a fork in her left hand.

They said I understand the Bible in the right hand but why the fork in your left hand? She said whenever you eat and dessert is coming, they say hang onto your fork so she knows that after death the best is yet to come!!

Before you talk, listen

Before you react, think

Before you criticize, wait

Before you pray, forgive

Before you quit, try

Above all, before you say or do anything trust in Jesus

A national park ranger in British Columbia has two sets of huge antlers, as wide as a man’s reach locked together.

Evidently 2 deer began fighting, their antlers locked, and they could not get free. They died due to anger.

12/1–9/1–How To Get To Heaven

Reverend Billy Graham tells of a time early in his ministry when he arrived in a small town preach a sermon.

Wanting to mail a letter he asked a young boy where the post office was. When the boy had told him, Dr. Graham thanked him and said if you’ll come to the Baptist church this evening, you can hear me tell everyone how to get to Heaven.

I don’t think I’ll be there the boy said and you don’t even know your way to the post office

If The Pilot Is Calm, Then All Is Well

An old tale is told of a storm that caught a vessel off a rocky coast and threatened to drive it and its passengers to destruction.

In the midst of the terror, one daring man, contrary to orders, went to the deck, made a dangerous passage to the pilot house and saw the steerman, at his post holding the wheel unwaveringly, and inch by inch, turning the ship out, once more, to sea. The pilot saw the watcher and smiled.

Then, the daring passenger went below and gave out a note of cheer: “I have seen the face of the pilot, and he smiled. All is well.”

In a similar manner, God smiles on us.   All is well.

If a tiny virus can do this much damage, imagine what a mustard seed of faith can do

Story:

A King stood high above his subjects on a balcony. I need a kidney and I wonder if any of you below would be willing to give me one of yours? I know it is asking a lot and would be a great sacrifice! A loud cry went up from the majority crying loudly let it be me, please let it be me!!

The King turned to his main aide and asked how can I choose among them since so many want to volunteer? There was a feather near his feet and he got an idea! He told his subjects I know what I’ll do, I’ll drop this feather and whoever it lands on will get the honor of donating me a kidney.

As the feather came slowly descending a swooshing sound could be heard as the subjects started blowing the feather. This is the way of a lot of people that tell God let me, let me God. But when God says ok go ahead they start trying to shift the load off them and onto someone else! They start to blow the feather away from themselves.

Scripture:

Matthew 17:20-21

And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

Opportunities Missed

There was a very cautious man

Who never laughed or played;

He never risked, he never tried,

He never sang or prayed.

And when he one day passed away

His insurance was denied;

For since he never really lived,

They claimed he never died!

The richest place in the world is the cemetery. It is richer than Fort Knox! There are apologies never made, Love never expressed,  songs never sung, and sermons never preached. Don’t die with your song still within you!!!

I’m not afraid of dying… only to die before I’ve ever lived!
