The Story Of Buddha And The Muddy Water

11/19–Once Buddha walking from one town to another town with a few of his followers. This was in the initial days. 

While they were traveling, they happened to pass a lake. They stopped there and Buddha told one of his disciples, “I am thirsty. Please get me some water from that lake there”.

The disciple walked up to the lake. When he reached it, he noticed that some people were washing clothes in the water and, right at that moment, a bullock cart started crossing the lake right at the edge of it. As a result, the water became very muddy, very turbid. 

The disciple thought, “How can I give this muddy water to Buddha to drink?!” So he came back and told the Buddha, “The water in there is very muddy. I don’t think it is fit to drink”.

So, the Buddha said, let us take a little rest here by the tree. After about half an hour, again Buddha asked the same disciple to go back to the lake and get him some water to drink. 

The disciple obediently went back to the lake. This time he found that the lake had absolutely clear water in it. The mud had settled down and the water above it looked fit to be had. So he collected some water in a pot and brought it to the Buddha.

The Buddha looked at the water, and then he looked up at the disciple and said, “See, You let the water be and the mud settled down on its own. You got a clear water. It didn’t require any effort”.

Moral: Your mind is also like that. When it is disturbed, just let it be. Give it a little time. It will settle down on its own. You don’t have to put in any effort to calm it down. We can judge and take best decisions of our life when we stay calm.

11/18–There was a man standing on a hill looking down on a man in the valley. The man on the hill said to himself I am here and the man in the valley is there. I don’t want to be here, I want to be there. I will just go join the man in the valley and then I can be there too! 

So the man on the hill hastened to join the man in the valley, for he had always longed to be there. When he finally got to the man in the valley he was so happy he exclaimed to the man I am finally there.

The man in the valley said no my son you are here. The man on the hill said please tell me where there is so I can finally be there. The man in the valley said you see that hill you just came from? Well that is there and you are here. 

So, when you long to get there in life, life will let you know you haven’t arrived. 

When I get $1 million dollars, get married, get my drivers license,you think, I will finally be there. You get married and then feel like it will take a child before you are finally there. Then you think when I get this child raised and through school….. well, you get my point!

We seem to never be there because we are always here!!

Cast All Your Care Upon The Lord

Life can pile up on us to the point where we feel like we’re carrying a load far too heavy for our shoulders. Worries about our health, our family, our finances, our future — they creep in quietly, but the weight adds up quickly. The truth is, we were never created to carry all of that by ourselves. There’s a better way.

God invites us — lovingly, personally — to give Him what weighs us down.

The Bible says in 1 Peter 5:7, “Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you.”

Not some of your cares. Not only the “big” ones. All of them.

Why Is Casting Your Care So Hard?

Because we like control.

We like to solve.

We like to fix.

But sometimes God lets the weight get heavy enough so we finally decide to hand it over. Not because He wants us burdened, but because He wants us close. Every worry is really an invitation to trust Him more.

Casting Your Care Doesn’t Mean You Don’t Care

It means you recognize your limit — and God’s limitlessness.

It means you understand you’re not surrendering your responsibility…

You’re surrendering the stress that comes with it.

You’re saying,

“Lord, I don’t know how this is going to work out,

but I trust that You do.”

A Simple Prayer That Changes Everything

“Lord, this is too heavy for me.

But it’s not too heavy for You.

I place it in Your hands.”

When you pray that, you’re not just speaking words —

you’re shifting the weight off your heart and into God’s capable hands.

Today’s Challenge

Take one worry — just one — and hand it to God.

Say it out loud.

Write it down.

Pray it through.

Release it.

You don’t defeat anxiety by holding tighter.

You defeat it by letting go.

Clean, Simple Humor to Brighten Your Day

Let God lift what you weren’t meant to carry.

Story:

11/16–My uncle used to say if he couldn’t take it with him he didn’t want to go. The reality is we all are going to die and we can’t take anything with us. Therefore, we have to use it before we die to do anyone any good.

 Everything in life has an expiration date. Just like the date manufacturers put on all the goods they sell that tells the last date it is safe for us that we should use their product. There is no guarantee for us to use it after that certain date. 

Similarly, there is a limited time for us to be able to do what we intend to do. So we must get busy to get done the items on our mission statement, and our to do list and our bucket lists. I had a bad heart attack in July, 2012. They said I cheated death and that I was at Death’s door! I was in the hospital for about seven days and four of those I spent in the Critical Care Unit or CCU. You had better believe that I reviewed my life and all the things I should’ve and could’ve done.

I knew that even though I might have cheated Death that Death would be back for me again one day. Having this knowledge, I found it inexcusable that I wouldn’t be ready next time. So that’s what I’m doing at this moment trying to mark off some items. on my bucket list. No one else can do that for you. The responsibility lies in you and in you alone!
