Young men have a good pattern!
Titus 2:1-7
But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,
Aiming Your Cannon
An officer on the battlefield aimed his cannon toward what he thought was the distant enemy.
Just before he fired, the commander, looking through his field glasses, shouted, “Your aim seems perfect, but stop! They are not the enemy; they are our own people.”
Did you ever think that when you aim criticism at God’s people so thoughtlessly, you are actually aiming your cannon at the Lord of your brethren?

2/7– The way we talk to our children becomes their inner voice
Story:
Paul Harvey tells the story of a young rookie lawyer who was sitting in his new office waiting for his first client. When he heard the outer door open, he quickly tried to sound very busy. As the man entered the office, the young lawyer picked up the telephone and said, “Bill, I’m flying to New York on the Mitchell Brothers thing; it looks like it’s going to be a biggie. Also, we’ll need to bring Carl in from Houston on the Cimarron Case. By the way, Al Cunningham and Pete Finch want to come in with me as partners. Bill, you’ll have to excuse me, somebody just came in…”
He hung up and turned to the man who had just entered and said, “How may I help you?”
The man said, “I’m here to hook up the phone!”
We do not have to exaggerate our supposed talents or abilities to be acceptable to Jesus.
He loves us anyhow.
Scripture:
1 Corinthians 13:4-5
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
Humor:
A group of expectant fathers were in a waiting room, while their wives were in the process of delivering babies. A nurse came in and announced to one man that his wife had just given birth to twins. “That’s quite a coincidence” he responded, “I play for the Minnesota Twins!” A few minutes later another nurse came in and announced to another man that he was the father of triplets. “That’s amazing,” he exclaimed, “I work for the 3M company.” At that point, a third man slipped off his chair and laid down on the floor. Somebody asked him if he was feeling ill. “No,” he responded, “I happen to work for the 7-up company.”

Don’t Find Fault Pray
don’t find fault with the man who limps or stumbles along the road, Unless you have worn the shoes he wears Or struggled beneath his load. There may be tacks in his shoes that hurt, Though hidden way from view, Or the burden he bears, placed on your back, Might cause you to stumble, too. Don’t sneer at the man who’s down today, Unless you have felt the blow That caused his fall, or felt the same That only the fallen can know.
You may be strong, but still the blows That were his, if dealt to you In the self-same way the self-same time, Might cause you to stagger, too. Don’t be too harsh with the man who makes mistakes Or pelt him with words or stones, Unless you are sure, yea, doubly sure, That you have no mistakes of your own.
For you know perhaps, if the tempter’s voice could whisper as soft to you As it did to him when he went astray, T’would cause you to falter, too.

From victim to Victor!
2 Corinthians 1:1-10
2 Corinthians
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia:
Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.
For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life: But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;
Watch Your “Cats”
The story is told of an old lady who rented a cottage for the summer. With the cottage was also a dog.
The old lady liked a very comfortable armchair better than any other in the house. She always made for it the first thing.
But, alas! she nearly always found the chair occupied by the dog.
Being afraid of the dog, she never dared bid it harshly to get out of the chair, but instead she would go to the window and call “Cats!” Then the dog would rush to the window and bark, and the old lady would slip quietly into the vacant chair.
One day the dog entered the room and found the old lady in possession of the chair. He strolled over to the window, and looking out, appeared very much excited and set up a tremendous barking. The old lady arose and hastened to the window to see what was the matter, and the dog quietly climbed into the chair.
Deceits practiced on others will sooner or later be repaid against ourselves. “Bread of a deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel” (Pro 20:17).

You must have control of the authorship of your own destiny. The pan that writes your life story must be held in their own hand!
Story:
During the war years, wounded soldiers were transported to a medical unit for treatment. They were categorized into three groups: no hope, medical help, and dead.
A nurse followed a doctor from bed to bed attaching the appropriate notation on each. On one particular young man, the doctor gave the diagnosis as “no hope.” As the nurse walked away, she heard a whimper—“Name is Lou.”
Her heart melted and compassion flooded her emotions for this young man. She did the unthinkable. Glancing to see if she would be detected, she changed his tag. He recovered and later married.
In the name of our Lord, that is what we are to be about as believers, changing tags from no hope to hope in Christ. Who needs a tag change?
Scripture:
Romans 5:1-5
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
